I know it's legal (obscenely expensive, but legal) to purchase full auto weapons manufactured before a certain date, but is there any way to get more modern weapons such as a P90?

I do love WD40 since I can hose areas down with the spray and it is very cheap. It is my most widely used product. CLP works great too but it does not mist as easily.

Ruger 10/22 is an excellent start. 22's are cheap and the 10/22 is very fun. If you want to get really elaborate, get the threaded barrel version and buy a can.

I don't know about other states, but in PA you can't hunt with a semi-auto rifle. know your state laws before doing anything.

It's possible I'm wrong, but my (limited) understanding is that machine guns manufactured after 1986 may only be sold/purchased by Government, Military, and Law Enforcement.

That's what I was thinking but I'm hoping there's some way some how...probably have to win the lottery to afford it but it would be nice to know there was a way😀
 
I am thinking about getting a CETME to store at the deer camp.

I would like a low cost, semi-automatic, 308 rifle just to keep at the deer camp.

Any input on this idea?

A possible angle might be to obtain a class 8 (Importer) or class 9 (Manufacturer) Federal Firearms Licence from the ATF. But you're looking at something on the order of a $3,000 application fee (and $3,000 renewal fees) for 'Destructive Devices', background investigation rather than just a computer check, on top of meeting other requirements for storage, transport, etc... Plus state/local requirements...

Not worth it if you just want your own weapon, IMHO. After all, $3K can buy a very nice rifle, a top tier set of optics, or a *really* nice pistol. All of which are much nicer than simply handing the cash over to the Gov't in exchange for a priveledge. 🙂

I'm an NRA instructor so I do not approve of the use of the W word - but FN makes a PS90 that is civ legal for commercial sale.

Hmmm. 308 and low cost tend to not go together. CETME or PTR91 would probably be your least expensive option.

I order in LWRC and AR10 equivalents for customers and they drop some serious coin so this one is a little out of my area.

Yes, in many cases that is true but the post-86 sample market is also expanded to dealers with demo letters and manufacturers can build whatever they want.

Types are types of licenses. Classes are classes of special occupational taxpayers, of which I am one.

A Type 08 license is actually pretty common amongst larger businesses that import commerical firearms. Glock would be a Type 08. Type 09 is dealer in DD's. Type 10 is manufacturer of DD's.

Manufacturer of DD's is an expensive job - and thats the way ATF likes it.

The FFL's purpose is a BUSINESS license, not an ownership of firearm license. Don't mix the two up.
