Question one: Assuming the owner is willing to take time to train and practice, what is the best style of gun for home defense?

Question two: What is a good rifle for plinking if one wants to use non-lead (steel or other non-hazardous) ammo? For the same use, which rifle has the lowest maintenance requirements?
FWIW
1. Shotgun

2. Be sure you can use steel bullets where you shoot. Some places ban lead because of birds being poisoned. Some ban steel because of the danger from sparks starting fires.

which is better sig or glock?

Which is better - apples or oranges? Both are excellent. Sig P22X series are more complicated than Glock and take more know how to put together.

1. This is tough because the best gun is the one you shoot accurately. I've seen folks who swing a Glock 19 around like it was made for them like a glove and I've seen a Remington 870 work very well. There is no clear answer. I can tell you one way to do it but I won't tell you THE way to do it that works for you.

2. Non-lead? Steel ammo? Hmmm. That's probably AK territory. The Ruger 10/22 is excellent and low maintenance but it shoots lead. Your term "hazardous" ammo is relative - as lead is lead. Why do you feel steel is preferable to lead?

Can you talk about the business side of things? Do you make a decent living (you do not have to put numbers to this)? Is business steady?

You manufacture silencers?

Got any info, tips or links to sites that explain how they are made etc?

Also how much they cost, and the costs of necessary permits

TIA

Fern

I have a manufacturers license but I limit myself to re-manufacturing existing product.

A great resource is silencertalk.com - they can tell you everything. Note: Don't build anything until you get your Form 1 from uncle sam if you live in the USA. SOME states have permits but many do not. The most relevant factor is the federal government most of the time, not state.

You can build a K baffled 22 can for a ridiculously low amount of money. I have one customer that made his for $5 of materials.

what is the best lubricant/protectant? wd40/gun oil/grease/motor oil/clp....

I personally like TW25 grease, but that's just me. WD40 and CLP work great in a pinch.

I do love WD40 since I can hose areas down with the spray and it is very cheap. It is my most widely used product. CLP works great too but it does not mist as easily.

Is it ok to shoot liberals?

Check with your lawyer.

if I wanted a gun to take camping and plink cans, what's the
least expensive option? If wanted to take a gun for small animal hunting (on foot, we don't need no stinking ATVs or cars where I go), what's my best option?

Ruger 10/22 is an excellent start. 22's are cheap and the 10/22 is very fun. If you want to get really elaborate, get the threaded barrel version and buy a can.

Why are PTR-91 / H&K-91 magazines so cheap, sometimes selling for $5 or less each; but FN/FAL mags are in the in the $20 price range.

Since the FN has been used by so many militaries all over the world, why are FN mags so expensive? Why cant we just import them from some third world country to get the price down.

Because there are a billion CETME/PTR91 rifles out there. I've overpaid for one at $3.

FAL mags are less popular - and they come in two variants, inch and metric. There's also better dealer markup on the FAL mags.

Importing firearm related stuff requires paperwork. Paperwork = profit, simple as that.

In your opinion, are those recoil pads you put between the slide and the receiver worth it?

Depends on the gun. You can play with length of pull which is the useful thing, but there's only so much you can do to reduce recoil. If you are recoil sensitive, get a gun that isn't an over under or a pump or a bolt gun. The types of actions reduce recoil more than a glorified chunk of rubber ever will.

PS - STOCK not slide.

Can I use a Barrett M107A1 for personal defense?

Sure, why not? You'll get some strange looks though. Also: Your ears will bleed.

Do guys with small penises buy more large guns?

Not sure. Ask your dad.

So what are the profit margins on your guns or any other guns such as ar15, m16, etc.

Depends on the outfit - most gun dealers are in the 10-20% range. I'm in the low single digits on TITLE 1 firearms.

An M16 - if I sell one, I need to make $1k minimum to make it worthwhile.

Love it. Next stop, 308.

Why are you not answering our questions?

Busy having sex.

"Silencers" isn't generally a term used by people in the industry I thought?

Depends on the industry. There is only ONE form that I've gotten in in the past year out of 200 that used the word "Suppressor" - all others have said "silencer".

Also - see this company. I sell a lot of their products. They sell exactly what their name sounds like.

Why is the sky blue?
Why do we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway?

Because Obama said so.

iirc the last one of these didn't go to well...

I'll keep doing it until I get it right.

What/why is WASR?

I like the Arsenal rifles. They're very nice but they are pricey.

WASR is just another AK variant that is cheap. Century does them in the 400-500 range all day long.

I pay for groceries, beer and shotgun shells. It's a living, I'm not getting rich.

Business is ok, July and August is traditionally slow though for all industries in the nation. I'm off about 25-35% this month just because of the seasonality.
