I'm in the firearm industry - ask me anything!

Types are types of licenses. Classes are classes of special occupational taxpayers, of which I am one.

A Type 08 license is actually pretty common amongst larger businesses that import commerical firearms. Glock would be a Type 08. Type 09 is dealer in DD's. Type 10 is manufacturer of DD's.

Manufacturer of DD's is an expensive job - and thats the way ATF likes it.

The FFL's purpose is a BUSINESS license, not an ownership of firearm license. Don't mix the two up.

I Stand Corrected. 🙂

...and for Good Reason, I'm sure.

I'm an NRA instructor so I do not approve of the use of the W word - but FN makes a PS90 that is civ legal for commercial sale.

Was trying to paint the broad spectrum of full auto options since there are both pistols and rifles...and I know about the PS90 but would love to get ahold of a full auto P90...I'm guessing it's a no though🙁

Be a manufacturer like me, be a LE agency or have congress repeal the 86 ban. Maybe we can get it wedged into the debt ceiling revision.

I'm thinking about getting a Kimber Ultra Carry 2 in .45 ACP with tritium three dot sights & a Crimson Trace red laser. I just shot one setup like this & think it was pretty nice. Opinions?

What is the cost of the most modern and updated M-16 with the "most" expensive add-on kits, that is actually attached to an M-16?

How many specific revisions in the manufacturing process of the M-16 did DARPA overlook, but offered the approval of experiment (risky) phases during the Vietnam War until version A2 was introduced (not A2 prototypes)?

The same price as the most modern and updated computer with the most expensive add ons.

No, really - you are asking an overly broad question. There are some AR15's that sell for $2-3k, you put some glass on and the glass costs more than the rifle itself.

Beat's me. You'd have to ask DARPA.

Why can't a get a high capacity magazine for my .45 Beretta CX4 Carbine? They make them for 9mm and .40, but not for .45 🙁

Kimber isn't bad - but not my favorite. I've owned many a Kimber before but none of them were worth keeping. My first was terrible, others ran just fine. YMMV.

I just got a brand new S&W bodyguard .380, and it has a light firing pin so sometimes I have to pull the trigger a few times for a round to fire. S&W is tell me they can fix it but it will take a month or longer.

Is this common practice for a brand new firearm? Is it too much for me to expect they fix it right away or exchange it? Anything I can do to speed up the process?

Not a common practice, what you are experiencing is a light strike.

S&W will not do that in a month - they should have that turned around in a few weeks.

Call the S&W customer service line - ask for Jeff Whitehouse. He will get you set up.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Please elaborate.

Many dealers are increasing their FFL transfer fees in order to (seemingly) drive their customers to buy from them instead of online.

It seems to me if they just charged a $20 flat fee they would undercut most other gun shops and just make money all day for having people fill out forms and receiving boxes.

Am I missing something? And yes, I understand a gun sale has a higher profit margin but it's hard to compete with a giant warehouse with no overhead costs.

I recently picked up a 9MM Sig, for home defense.
What is the best type of ammo for this purpose? (currently using hollow point)
My concern is if I ever have to use it, how many walls will that round go through?
