Not if you rename the movie file extensions. You can rename all of them and it'll load a lot quicker.

Edit: Should have read the whole thread

I'm thinking of selling mine because of the stupid bugs, server problems and lack of teamplay.

it takes me about 40 seconds to load a map and 30 seconds for it to do its verification thing, pretty reasonable. my system is not top of the line anymore either. if it takes you 10 minutes to get into a game the problem is on your end.

use all seeing eye for a server browser, it's infinitely better than the piece of in-game crap EA gave us.

Battlefield 1942 and Desert combat used to be two of my favorite games, well they still are, but what annoys me most about BF2 (i dont even have the game) is that you need a super amazing system just to be able to play it w/o lag. I mean seeriously, graphics are always nice, but lag = no fun.

Hold the fire button in for a second longer, the gun will recoil, but you will keep the sight up. You still need to reload, but you can see if you hit the mark.

1. If the helicopter died to a tank in 1 hit, nobody would ever fly it. A direct hit from a tank takes away 75% of the health, stray machine gun fire can set the chopper on fire at that point.

Picture this: Tank hits chopper and chopper is left with 3 bars of health. At 2 bars, the chopper is on fire and will lose health until it explodes (unless you are right next to a hellipad, it is time to bail out). All the tank has to do is fire some secondary rounds into the chopper or get into the gunner seat for half a second to down the chopper. Exactly why does it have to be any easier than that? I've seen plenty of tank pilots take down choppers.

plently of people would fly it, it would just be more vulnerable, as it should be. there isnt a helo on this earth that can survive a direct hit from a tank. its so unrealistic its not even funny. and im well aware that the helo is badly damaged after 1 hit, but do you know how annoying it is to blast an apache in a T-90, only to have it whip around and blow me up? And dont say i dont know how to use the tank, i have a 12:1 KTD with the tank...

Yeah, four lines stick out from your crosshair if your shot hit the target.

Guess what, everybody else playing is having the same problem. They can adapt and move on......you apparently can whine.

yeah, expand on a game that needs fixed. WTF is wrong with them? But seriously, it takes a solid 10 minutes from the time you open BF2 before you can expect to even JOIN an online game. Its that crappy. And even when you do join, the lag is so unbearable most of the time.

and where are all the vehicles that were in Desert Combat? there were so many awesome vehicles in there that are missing. The vehicle selection sucks IMO.

Well I had had all these problems when I first got BF2... I took EAs advice and bought another gig of ram... I now have 2 gigs in an A64 3200 with a 6800GT... all the lag is gone... flat out gone.... i can join games very quickly now...

its not the games problem its a end user hardware problem.. I thought it was the game too but 2 gigs of ram and a good system makes this game flat out hum...

just because they say to get 2 gigs of RAM doesnt make it right. the point is the game shouldnt NEED 2 gigs. I dont want to shell out $100 because they cant program.

The Devs said from the git go this program was gonna need 2 gigs...
do you really want the software companies to remain static instead of taking advantage of new technology?
I buy a new card every single generation to make sure im at the cutting edge of gaming..
so I can play the latest games..
if you dont want to do this maybe you should stick with console gaming at 640x480...

you can just press escape as soon as the movies begin

yeah you just empty out the movies subdirectory. it's somewhere in battlefield 2\mods\

that worked for me in battlefield 1942, i don't have vietnam or 2 so i can't comment on those ones.

You can lower your settings till your peak memory usage is less than 1 gig.

As far as your 10 minute loading time I'm not sure what's going on there. My load time is around 50 seconds. Are you exaggerating your load time for effect or do you really clock 10 minute load times?

I hate the people who can't shoot for sh!t and just run around with the grenade launcher under the assault rifles. The friggin things shoot in a straight line instead of an arc and can go halfway across the map.

What pisses me off about the game is that teams are nearly always stacked. Between rounds they need to take 30 seconds and split people up to make the point averages on both teams more equal. It often happens that every player on 1 team will have more than 40-50 points in a round, and nobody on the other team even breaks 25 and half of them are below 10. It sucks when teams constantly win by more than 90 tickets. It's not even a game then.

Have to agree that the sniper rifle sucks.

No blood in the game is definitely a huge negative. It's a very realistic game but having no blood just to get a nice low rating is lame in my opinion. I don't mean that we need Quake-like gibs flying all over the place, but at least make it realistic.

Pistols, ie: the silenced pistol that comes in the sniper pack suck in general. That gun might as well be a paintball gun.

APC vehicle main gun sucks. If it's going to take a whole minute or whatever to reload at least make it more powerful. :p

I upgraded to 2 gb of ram and the menus still freeze on me. Main complaint = server browser. What's this, we still can't paste in IP's from somewhere else? Oh, I click on a server to join it and it takes 20 seconds to light up?

You mean the rocket launcher? That's not the main gun. The APC's main gun is the canon. Very powerful IMO especially since it has burst shells. I can't tell you how many kills I've gotten because infantry think they are safe hiding from me around a corner or ducking behind a wall and I just fire the canon in their area and get a kill.
