Maybe if I was 16 and working at McD's or something, but what the hell...$2000? That's nothing for most jobs! Add a zero and maybe.

Why??? 2K is to little. If someone did not like their job they just sit on their ass and not do much. What they did they do badly enough to get fired. By this time they have made a lot more then 2K for doing little to nothing. Then after they tell me to leave i go apply for unemployment and get even more then 2k on top of all that.

No, the company is not in trouble. The offer is more about getting rid of people that aren't passionate about the company or their job.

This is stupid on your boss's part and could backfire on him. If he has any talented people who are considering other offers, this could help them make that decision.

So, would YOU quit your job right now for $2k?

I know what company you work for. Or your just pretending to work for the company.

My boss told me about this yesterday in our one-on-one.

$2K is too low for me.

I'd take several months severance if they wanted to incentivize me to quit, and 2k aint exactly that, see?

I like my job so wouldn't quit, but if I didn't like my job I'd quit if the offer were about 40k.

After taxes, that $2000 comes to about $1200. More taxes are withheld from such payouts than standard paychecks. You'll get most of the difference back, but not until next year.

If they were passionate about me quitting it'd take a lot more than $2,000 to get me out the door voluntarily.

If you immediately mentally converted $2000 into videogames, go ahead and take it.

i don't work for zappos :)
but i DO work for a company with a similar culture

and i agree, $2k isn't enough for me to quit unless i was ready to leave anyway

here in the midwest, $2k means more than it would to someone in socal or any other metro area

$250K, yes. Otherwise, no.

And it will not get rid of people that are passionate. it is equally as likely to get rid of the best people that know they can get another job within 2 weeks.
