Warranty? Hondas and Toyotas don't need any warranties. They'll typically last 300,000 miles if you take care of it.

Hyundai ties Honda in quality survey -- J.D. Power
"Toyota Motor Corp. also makes Lexus and Scion vehicles -- actually did slightly worse than Hyundai. Toyota cars had 104 problems per 100 vehicles."

I'm not sure of the true cost of a Tiburon, but a GT V6 can be had for $18,000 list price. And, there is also a $1,000 Rebate that is effective from May 3 through May 31, 2005.

As much as Hyundai has turned things around in recent time, IQ does not equal long-term durability
IMHO all cars have problems if you don't take care of it, and it would last longer if you baby it. Honda & Toyota have a long history of reliability over that of Hyundai , but it doesn't stop Hyundai cars to be up there in the longevity department. Just as the Japanese car has came a long way from crappy 70s B210 and the alike, Hyundai craftmanship & quality has gone up quite abit since the 80s.

I have a close friend that have a 1987 Excel with almost 200,000 miles that hasn't been in the shop for any thing other than oil, brake jobs, and tires. (60-70% is highway miles, and the car get a religious oil change every 3500 miles). The interior rattles, but the car still run just fine.

I dont trust scion (they are too new to the game), but the TC does look pretty.

brand name and knowing honda's rep for solid cars wins my vote over some new company marketed towards younger kids (20-35ish demograph). we all know cars marketed towards younger ppl tend to be cheaper and less quality

i know Toyota makes Scion but i still dont trust it

Dude, you just pwned yourself TWICE !!!!!! muhahahaha

First, after saying that it's a low quality car, you PWNED yourself by admitting to know it's a toyota, WHICH MAKES THE MOST RELIABLE CARS. So you have disproven your own initial claim (Doh!)

Second, you said you don't trust it EVEN THOUGH IT IS A TOYOTA !!! thus, you have pwned yourself AGAIN because it's idiotic not to trust toyota cars (as explained above).

Even though it's a new car, most of it's major components and systems are borowed from rock solid toyota models - most importantly it's got the Camry engine and transmission and Avensis chassis. All the other parts are also high quality toyota parts.

Face it, this is a rock solid car which looks like a lexus sports coupe (retails for $60K) but costs only $16K !!!!! PWNED !!!!!!!

So while honda's quality ratings have actually been dropping steadily in the last few years, you think they still have that bulletproof rating? While there are certainly gripes about the tC, they are not mechanical or powertrain related in the vast majority of cases. If it's so dammed cheap, why are there glowing reviews that say how the tC feels like it's 10K more expensive ?

Yes, scion quality is not rated near the top. But the buyers are many times getting their first new car, and are pickier about them then lexus owners. The lone rattle shows up as a bigger problem than a major recall on another car.

tc rocks. one of the first here in michigan, going on 10 months, 22K miles, and I'm loving it. Service departments are another story though.

I agree, it looks like ass. There's too much empty space between the bumper and the door. Definitely looks like something missing. The line where the door closes almost splits the front and the back end almost 50/50. One can tell that it was meant to be 4-door vehicle. 4-door sedans turned coupe look horrid, in general A true 2-door coupe looks different, is simply that, no compromises and no room for another set of rear passenger doors. Designed from grounds up to have that true coupe look. The most beautiful look, imo, should be 2/3 split upfront and 1/3 rear where the door closes.

Definitely the Scion since it doesn't look like a horrendous commuter car trying to look sporty.

Sure, the Scion isn't really that sporty but it's got the right price and the right stuff in it. Camrypowa!!
The factory appearance and accessories options are pretty cool... though I'd probably never put a supercharger on it... I've had enough of FWD forced induction cars with too much power for the front wheels.

definitely tC.

I don't think there is a wrong choice here though...you would be good to go with the Civic as well.

No offense... but I find everything there ugly as sin.

u can get the Saab 9-2X for under $20G with the employee discount they are offering :)
but if it has 2 be between those two i would get the tC much nicer styling and bang for the buck
