I have asthma too. I'm a girl (but i heard if there was a draft it would include women too) so I'm interested in this question too. And also how about if you only have one kidney?

you would not be able to go. As it stands youc an't join if you have asthma, my sister has asthma.. HOWEVER she was looking to join and would have since a lot of recruiters will lie to get you in. Just liek in the AF you have to have a high school diploma but i know several ppl we serve with me and do not.

I'd fight if it was to save our country from a real threat... say china finally decides to invade taiwan and starts WW3....otherwise no and I don't think I can anyway I got suction cups for fest (extremely flat and when walking across a wet floor thier so flat that they sound like suction cups)

If they ever get around to drafting me, they're really scraping for enlistees ....... sesp. considering my age.

Besides, I already did 7+ years in the Army during the early 70's.

I am too old. But if involved a war that actually had the US being attacked, then I would support it and try to go. My son just turned 18. No way is he going off to fight for that retard in office. Bush isn't going to be happy until he spends a trillion dollars killing maybe 10k "soldiers". By that I mean our soldiers.

point is that not a lot of people are good fighters... I'm not. I could help out the engineers probably but I'm not a rifleman.

but yeah if i'm drafted... yes I'll go.

Id ditch to canada or whereever. I honestly dont care enough about this country to stay. I was born here by chance, and eventually when I have the proper means, Im outta here. I have serious issues with the entire mentality of this country, not to mention the horrible way its being run recently.

Id be willing to stand up and fight for a country that I believed in, but this is not that country.

Damn straight World War 2 was different, 50 million deaths, including 10 million Russian troops, 3.5 million German troops, 2 million Chinese troops, 1.5 from Japan and almost 500,000 U.S. deaths.

Besides talking about the draft, cause Id stay in the US and go to war, Id like to discuss the alarming number of people who would leave the country and never come back.

What the fvck!? As much as other countries seem "nice" or "cool" how could you leave this place? For those that grew up here, are you not used to anything here? Is there nothing you care about?

I couldn't stand to live that far away from my family. How would I see NFL/NCAA football and bball games? (maybe they do the satt. thing, dunno). For me, it would have to get really fvcking bad to make me want to move to another country, especially since so many are socialist.

Nah, Ive got no undies on so anyone who doesnt like what I said can kiss my bare ass.

Besides, it being said would just prove my point. There is no more semblance of moderation in our country anymore. Personal freedom is taken to such an extreme that common sense and good judgement is thrown out the door.

"But it doesnt matter, because we're americans, and we'll kick your ass if you dont agree!"

I grew up here, being told and believing that I lived in the greatest nation in the world. Now I realize that I just live in the richest nation in the world. Two entirely different things.

Everyone kisses our ass because they want what we have. Instead of being the noble leader of the world we are become the tyrant, and rightfully so.

If I was an arab, Id hate america every bit as much as they would. I wouldnt buy this "liberation" BS that americans seems to eat up either.

The one thing I am thankful to america for is being given the freedom to learn for myself that america isnt all its cracked up to be.

Oh, and hamburgers are delicious too. :)

There has been legislation passed n both Canada And USa to prevent draft dodgers from going there. As well, schooling is no longer an excuse. If you are 18 and have graduated high school you are up for the taking.

The American dream is a sickening institution.

I seriously doubt there will be a draft. A politician starting that is on the quickest way to make sure he/she doesn't get re-elected.

2 different drafts are pending, not sure if they where submited by 2 different people

also anyone know the status of the drafts, have they moved out of the commite for the full floor vote?

Neither have a snowball's chance in hell of passing.

One is offered by a Democrat in an effort to fire up Vietnam style student protests (That curiously ended abruptly when the drafts ended in '73).

Another is offered by a kooky Republican against the wishes of the majority of his party.

The Pentagon, the Admin, and the Armed Forces Committee all oppose a draft, as do an overwhelming majority of both houses of congress.

It ain't happening.

I currently live in Canada, and have dual citizenship.
If they attempted to draft me for the American service, I would rip up my American citizenship.

Well for a start I'm only 16 and a I have U.K. citizenship, despite the fact that i live in sunny california, so I'm clear for the time being. If I had to be drafted though I would probably go. Even though I think a lot of this fighting is bs because George Bush is only fighting the war that his dad lost. It's all some big grudge and because of that I'm not very fond of the war. Not to mention we came to Iraq for WMDs, and in the end, ended up taking naked pictures of Iraqi prisoners. All in all, I would go. It would be tough, but thoughts of my friends and family would pull me through. I would know that I have a lot more to live through, and that I wasn't going to give it up that easily if I were ever seriously injured.
