If you had to drive a Ford Mustang, or a Nissan Maxima, which would you pick?

your mustang

or

your maxima

I tried to configure them to be similarly priced.

edit: pretend you have to pay your own insuarnce, gas, maintenence, etc, and that this will be your primary vehicle to drive around.

more editing: ok, if your decision depends on 700 different options like whether you can get a good driver discount on insurance, who pays for the air when you fill the tires at a coin-op pump at a gas station, which color it comes in, and the phase of the moon, jsut pick "view results".

If somebody was GIVING me the car, then I'd take the mustang.
If I was actually BUYING one of the two, I'd take the maxima.

only two words are needed to make up everyone's mind:

Mach 1.

and if that didn't do it, how about: Shaker hood.

give me the pony any day :) no torque steer

If I was given one of the cars, I'd pick the Mustang. If I had to buy it, Maxima all of the way. :D

Since they both cost basically the same, what difference does it make? I really don't understand this answer....

The whole idea is to have the cars worth the same omount of money...

I changed the insuarnce requirement. It's more realistic if you have to pay your own insurance.

Because, if I'm buying it, then it's probably a primary vehicle. And, since it's a primary vehicle, functionality is a huge concern. A two door RWD sports car is NOT a functional/practical vehicle. A 4 door midsize car is. If it was my money going on the line, I'd choose the maxima since it's more comfortable, more roomy, more practical in the winters, has 4 doors and a decent amount of punch under the hood.

Now, if somebody was to give me the car, I wouldn't have to weight practicality concerns since it probably wouldn't be a primary vehicle.

You are comparing apples to oranges in this little game.

Ask a man with a family of four what he would rather have given to him - a Mustang or Honday Oddesy. He'd probably rather have the mustang given to him.

Now, ask him if he had to buy a car, which one would he rather buy - the mustang or the oddesy.

Big difference in priorities.

ok, well, the title says "if you had to drive..." so assume that you'll be doing most of your driving in this car.

are you into cars? if you like speed & muscle cars, then the mustang is obviously the way to go.
i prefer to have an overall lower cost of ownership - maintenance, gas, insurance. it's probably more fun to drive a mustang, but more expensive and maybe less practical and reliable. i don't quite understand the difference behind the "given" and "buy myself," unless people couldn't justify buying a mustang but it'd be ok to have one given to them.

Although I really really don't like Ford, and think you should go with a F-body, Mustang all the way. If you ever feel the need for speed, nothing takes to forced induction like a 4.6L 32 valve. Maxima? My grandma has one of those, literally.

I'm wish cashman. If it was just me I'd take the mustang cause it's faster, but if I had to buy it undoubtedly the maxima. I trust its build quality more and in addition to that it is larger and size does matter.

Oh yeah also resale sucks on a mustang :( I'd still love to have one, although I've never been behind the wheel unfortunately.

I'd take the maxima - better interior, better leather, better looking, better resale value, higher reliability, lower insurance, 6-speed, more room, 4 doors, better gas mileage, and xenon headlights. The only thing the ford has is more power, but I really don't care about that since the max is faster than on 90% of the cars on the road. ;)

Ok fine. Maxima. 95% of the time I want comfort, luxury, and room. 5% of the time I want balls to the wall accelleration. Since the maxima offers 95% of what I want, 95% of the time, it's the logical decision. Besides, it's still no slouch and quicker than a VERY large percentage of the cars out there.
