Have you even seen the interior of fords? My dad just bought a 32k f-150 with leather. The dash layout looks like it was designed by Tyco.

I'd take the Mustang anyday. That's a sweet looking car. The Maxima isn't too bad but it doesn't look half as good as the Mustang. Mustangs seem to hold their value pretty good, so a new one isn't a bad investment.
Mind you the Mustang is a performance car aimed at drivers who like to performance drive.
The Maxima is aimed at drivers who want comfort and an at least decent handling car.

Ask yourself what kind of driver you are and you'll have your answer.

Care to name some?

I have no idea what the vehicle requirements are since there are few similarities between a Mustang and Maxima. I'm not clairvoyant.

the maxima has one of the smoothest and sweetest revving engines. i think ward's put it aptly, when they said it's the sweetest revving engine this side of a ferrari. heh heh, i guess bought into the marketing hype. :D

The Mach 1 ain't no stock mustang. That being said, i'd still get a maxima. so would PAB. well, maybe not, he'd take his chances trying to get a 2002 accord for a ludicrous price.

I just went to Nissan's page. I can't stop laughing. The Maxima looks like it was styled by a two year old. LOL :)

Are people actually buying this piece of junk?

Seeing as how you got majorly 0wned earlier in the thread and just sorta ignored it, I think I'll take your post with a grain of salt...

Shantanu, just because you aren't American doesn't mean you have to overcompensate by being severely biased toward American cars.

I like to think of the current Maxima as a modern day Impala SS. It's a muscular machine...hey what other 6-spd family sedan under $30k can chrip 1st, 2nd, and 3rd STOCK?

Now your gonna say, most people don't care for family sedans that can chirp gears...and your right. The Maxima provides them with NAVI, leather, heated seats/steering wheel, etc..

btw, most of the owners of Maximas on Maxima.org are all previous muscle-car owners who now have a family and wanted a family car with some muscle. Those owners have had some pretty cool cars in the past, like older Mustangs that ran 11s, older F-bodys, Chevelles, etc...

Some of us Maxima.org users are first time car buyers who couldn't afford the sports car insurance and want an affordable comfortable sporty transportation:)
I got my used 96 maxima with my signing bonus back in 2000. I put all my living posessions into it, and drove it to the bay area.
Put 40K miles on it in less than 2 years and it's still driving like new with 110K miles.

The Maxima is FWD, no?

Most muscle car fans wouldn't be caught dead in a rice burner.

I would imagine most Impala SS owners looking to move on will gravitate towards the Mercury Marauder, or perhaps the upcoming Pontiac GTO.

GTO isn't released and the Marauder was just released (I think). And both are more expensive than the Maxima. And I think the Marauder is slower anyway.

This is a weird thread for me. Over the years, I've driven a '66 Mustang, a '75 Mustang II (hah!) and a '84 Maxima. Right now I'd probably choose the Maxima.

head hurts, forum causing.

Umm, ya. My head hurts.

It comes down to need vs want.

If you actually think about it. You need the maxima more than the stang.

I like trucks, so I'll vote for the Ford.
