For everyone that is carrying on about Nissan's great build quality compared to Ford, here are the service bulletins (TSBs) issued for the two vehicle. For comparison's sake, I used the 2002 models since the 2003s are too new to have recalls yet:

2002 Nissan Maxima SE recalls/notices:
TSB Number Issue Date TSB Title 02-039 APR 02 Tachometer - Needle on Wrong Side of Stop Pin
01-069A MAR 02 Brake Caliper (Rear) - Clunk/Rattle/Knocking Noises
01-073B MAR 02 Radio - Ignition Static Noise
01-025 JAN 02 Power Door Locks - Intermittently Lock By Themselves
01-042 JAN 02 Hood - Vibration
01-087A DEC 01 Paint - Removal of Environmental Particles

2002 Ford Mustang GT recalls/notices:

02-5-4 MAR 02 Accessory Drive Belt - Slips Off Pulley When Wet

I'm not a doctor (though I play one on TV), mechanic, or rocket scientist: But to me it looks like the Maxima has more issues.

ZV, chalk another one up that we've converted from the dark side.

well, mom had a maxima (1990) it was great, top of the line back then. Gave it to me (i lasted for a month till i wrecked it, BTW i was only 16). She bought her self a new one (2002 GLE), and yep it's freakin ausme, gah. Went 160 (which is as far as the speedo goes) about 1.5 months ago, felt like i was flying, i don't think i'll do that again. But that was my mom, me being power hungry i would prob take the mustang, but it would be a hard decision.

I own a 2001 mustang coupe, and it's the smoothest driving car I have ever driven. I have never driven a maxima, but I can say it is smoother & much more comfterble than a prelude & a celica (i'm kinda tall and the mustang is much roomier) which i have test driven. also if you go with the mach 460 sound system which i did, it's the most incredible stock system you will ever hear. in my opinion better than some of the custom jobs i've seen and as far as maintnence i havn't had the first problem with it, no leaks or anything, well if you count tires i've already put 60000 miles on it and i like to burn out. that reminds me thats the only thing i didn't like, the good year tires that came with it. i have high performance michelins now and no complaints here. but all in all a good car, just wish i could have afforded the GT.
