Cops would rather hunt down the working man than the drug dealers no matter what the fines. It's easier and less dangerous!![]()

I partially agree with you.
I fvcking hate speeders. Some people feel safe rocketing along the highway at 90 mph. I don't. So, I'm the one that gets honked at, cursed at, and tailgated. Then, I'm the one that has to slam on my brakes when the jackass passes in a no-passing zone and almost wipes out the oncoming traffic.
Having said that, I don't think large, straight stretches of interstate should be enforced in the same way as rest.
Thank you!
Who is more of a hazard? The old man in the big white Buick driving 10MPH under the speed limit in the left lane or the people who are passing him in the center lane? I'm voting for the former.
lol. Ok, so maybe I'm exaggerating. I think I was honked at once while driving the speed limit through a long construction zone (hwy 192 between Melbourne and Orlando). I've been in the car with enough people to know what's said about a driver doing the speed limit.
That's beside the point. I want to do the speed limit. It's not worth a ticket, my life, the life of a pedestrian, or my desire to save 30 seconds on a trip to speed. Sure, I feel like I can speed and still be a safe driver, but I just think there isn't a need.
If all of you are so upset about these "arbitrary and unfair" speed limits, contact your local DPW/DOT official, politician, priest, rabbi, indian healer and voodoo witch doctor and voice your complaint/opinion.
I know everyone here is a badass mofo that smokes pot and drives 100 MPH while drinkin' a 40 and jamming "Fvck the Police"...but show some love for the 70 mph interstate homies.

would people be less likely to speed?
If less people were speeding, less cops would be needed to monitor speeders, and more could focus on serious crime like gangs and violence. Or in low crime areas, less cops would be needed in general and taxes would be lower.
I would give the $1,000 fine to anyone going 5mph or more over the speed limit.
I think people would say speeding is not worth the risk if it meant a minimum $1,000 fine.

people speed ebcause they can get away with it...
Every car should be equipped with GPS and there should be a database with every road and its speed limit. Everyone would be caught if they speed, and issued a ticket.
Every car should have a breathalizer, and not start if the driver has had alcohol.

The death penalty is enforced in Texas. Are there still murders?
That's different, most people who kill are not sane. They have mental issues. No logical person would kill another person.
However speeders are just ordinary people who have the reasoning to weigh the risk/reward of a situation and would react based on that.

You really don't know how to think outside the box, do you? No more cars, no more roads. It would be a rail system. The return on investment would be huge.
Uh no, you're not doing your research. Do you have an idea how much rail systems cost?
And what if I want to go somewhere where no rail exists, like a really small town or somewhere rural? You cannot cover EVERY road with rail, the costs of that would be ENORMOUS.

The biggest reason to not speed is the time thing.....speeding takes VERY little time off a trip, unless it's several hundred miles.

The cost of new rail per mile is between $200,000 to $1 million.
The cost of new highway per mile is $8 million to $39 million.
The rail system I have in mind is not your conventional 2 rail track with a caboose. The rail would replace every road in the US, including rural.

Little Better
So, would you patrol streets for speeders, or chase gun toting drug dealers for your ~30K?
