Nope. I went from 274 to 163. Me < you. :)

Ooooh, and Turin, your doggie looks just like mine!

Cute dog, mine has a bit more chow in her, here is her close up

Oh, and while I'm body recomping, I'm also going to be quitting smoking, cutting back on drinking, learning to stick to a budget and save more, improving my dental hygiene(floss wtf?), attending classes and maintaining a 4.0, working full time, restoring while driving my 72 VW and my 75 Honda bike, keeping up with my 3 dogs, preparing for and dealing with the BS involved with getting married next fall, trying to get a better job. Oh and I'd like to learn to do hand powered woodworking. And take better pictures with my megazoom digital. And find time(and moneys) to travel. Feel free to provide assistance.

The irony is, that I am a naturally lazy person. I remember sleeping to 2 in the afternoon with fondness. Now to find 80 hours to research my diet and exercise plan! Currently just doing cardio(a few mile run, today I detoured and went to the grocery and bought a large bag of flour and ran the two miles home with a backpack!). I only have a single 30lb dumbbell at home, I'm hoping to get back to the gym at the university once fall classes start up again, The problem is that it's after my class so it's usually a 7-8pm workout, then get home and prepare a late dinner before bed.

Turin, maybe you can tweak your college schedule to workout in the morning. You'll get a nice energy boost from an early morning gym session. Just gotta go to sleep earlier.

My dog is half chow, he looks more chow-like when he's up on all four feet. Of course, that pic is 2 years old, he's put on a few pounds...

You can do it! Cut out sodas and alcohol to quickly reduce your caloric intake. Add in some exercise a few times a week (walking, biking, gym for lifting) ... all of ATOT is behind you.

I'm trying to work a run into the morning, I'm not a morning person by nature so right now I find it hard to get to bed too much before midnight. I'm going to hold off schedule changes until I get my starting workout figured out.

Thanks for the advice, and the contest .

:( - I just checked the fitness center and they are indeed open at 6am

I want to sign up but due to several reasons I can't start working out until beginning of September. I'll start up something (blog, pics etc.) at the end of August. Good luck to all, thanks to TallBill for starting this up and in the case of the people aiming to lose weight (like me) - may the biggest loser win :)

Who am I kidding, this is AT, we can all win!!!

;)

Your body fat percentage is more like 25 instead of 20.

His BF% is NOT 25%. That would make him obese.

Ooh, and today is Day 1! :D

Trust me, he is in the mid twenties. I don't care what that makes him, but people tend to underestimate their body fat percentages significantly.

Ok, I'm going to do my best to get application info together and actually take some pics. I'll be going for the losing weight category. I'll have to open an account on one of the pages a few others have to document all this. Is there one that is particularly intuitive (not that I can't figure them out if they aren't). I'll need to wait a couple of days until this sunburn fades a little...don't want to look like a lobster in the before pics :D

I've found the one Quasmo recommended and started a group in to be quite good and easy to use: http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/mysparkstart.asp

I actually have a few friends that are using it now just to track their calorie intake and exercise and they are loving it.

Cheers,
KT

I've used SparkPeople before, and I think it's the best free online weight tracking/management website around. Very full featured, good community, personalized workouts and meal plans, online journal, all free. Can't ask for much more, to be honest.

Last time i used a body-fat % thingy (not sure what they're called) it was about 19.5% about 2 years ago. I don't think it's the same, but I don't think that it's 25%. I guess it might be around 22% or something....I just know I'm not obese.

Calipers aren't an accurate way to measure body fat.

It wasn't a caliper, it was an electronic measuring device, and even if my body fat is 25%, the whole point i'm in this is to get in shape so it's going to go down ;)

Those are even worse than the calipers. You can alter the reading by several % just by drinking a glass of water.
