I would say that with one extra note: mood isn't
always generated from thinking (his core concept is that thinking creates feelings). That guy's books are excellent, but I struggled from depression for a long time & a big reason was simply that I had undiagnosed food allergies. It basically made me feel like crap all the time, and for awhile, put my emotions on "mute", which was really difficult because I felt numb all the time. Sometimes you have a disease that causes that as well, or PTSD, or childhood abuse...so sometimes you can talk & think it out, but sometimes you have something physical that is screwing up your neurotransmitters & whatnot that needs attention.
I am glad I read those books, however - I never realized how strong your inner voice was, and that your inner voice doesn't always tell the truth, even though we tend to believe what we tell ourselves. I think a lot of people struggle with self-image too & this is a really good book to help you overcome that distortion that you face, whether it's being a nerd or anorexia or whatever kind of confidence-type of issue you may struggle with.
