So you didn't know if she was red meat but she tasted delicious when you got your chance... good stuff.

Rare for me. What's the point of cooking even some of the juices out?

With medium rare, you might as well be eating shoe leather. I like my meat to taste like meat; thank you very much

Not that I have it a lot, but having filet mignon is the only time eating a big steak doesn't taste like chewing on leather after a while.

The best way to eat steak is to have the chef hold it up and wave it at the grill.
Prevents over-cooking.

Steak is best Medium. That's what I always get. Sometimes we just specify "Pink but not bloody" to make sure the waiter's definition of Medium and mine is the same...

Medium-medium rare is the best because the juices have become liquid but are still in the meat's body.. With well done the juices are cooked out of it, and rare the juices aren't yet pulled out of the fat and meat's cells.

medium-rare rib eye steak....mmmm...
I don't doubt it.
Hell, even a nice fillet mignon probably turns into a crappy skillet burger if you order it well done.

sorry to say but I still use A1 even if the steak is amazing :p

salt+pepper+a little bit of olive oil

my dad cooks great steak on the grill and than we have sautéd mushrooms on top of the streak that already have butter/salt/pepper.

I still use the A1 can't leave it no matter how good the steak is

The waiter explained to me that this particular cut would be really dry well-done, so he recommended that I get it medium, still red and juicy but the outside is done nicely. It was absolutely delicious, I realize the flavor I was missing all these years by getting it well-done. Also, the resturant had real dim lighting, I could barely see my date across the table, let alone see how red the meat was. But it was certainly delicious.
if you order it medium it usually cooks up more after it's been removed from the heat source anyway.

If that's true it should happen however you order it.

 Medium rare for me.

I never order steak well done. If they overcook it, it's going back to the kitchen.

I can remember in high school my French teacher telling me that if you want a steak well-done in France you should ask for it ruiné - literally meaning ruined.

Although I have been to France a few times and eaten many steaks I've never been able to test this, as medium-rare is the way forward. :D

Medium is ok. I usually ask for Medium-Well unless I'm at a decent steak house (or a steak house I have experience with) that I can trust to cook as I expect.

I've ordered medium before and the fvcker moo'd when I cut it.

I'm 29.

What the hell took you this long to wake up and start eating your dead animal properly cooked? :p

Edit - And damn this thread, because now I'm looking at my outstanding ravioli-cheese pasta lunch, and going "I wish this was a STEAK"

When I started eating steak I would always get it well-done. A few years ago I started ordering medium and haven't looked back :p
