I no longer consider myself a christian

It feels like a 1000 bricks have been lifted off my shoulders. I don't have all the answers, nor am I foolish enough to think I ever will. But I feel so much better. Now lets see how family reacts to updated religious views on facebook. That is all

I am not a troll.

I no longer consider myself a man. It's nothing but hot lesbian sex with women from here on out.

Oh and informing your family via facebook is real classy.

It's very liberating. I haven't been a Christian since I was 10 or so, but it took quite awhile longer before stated that fact when asked. It's probably a similar feeling when queers come out of the closet. It's easier to just tell the truth, and live your life as you choose.

I didn't really "inform" them. I just updated my religious views, and one of them will stumble upon it and it will spread like a rumor does in high school. My family loves to gossip.

Waiting for the family to notice your facebook change is stupid, just clear that status update...imo.

But I agree, it is nice. The only time I ever go to church now is Christmas Eve, and I actually do enjoy that because of the music. And it's nice family time. But this is why you don't try to force 3 days of church a week down your kids' throats, Mom.

Or in my case, grandparents.

They'll be trying to "save" you from yourself for the rest of your natural life.

Hallelujah can I get an amen?!!

It's tough when your family gives you grief over your beliefs. Hope you find what you are seeking.

I'm sure you'll find, as I did, that your parents care for your soul less than they care for you as a person, provided they are well-adjusted mature people. There will be an adjustment period, but your folks should accept you as you are, not for how you think.

My mom was quite accepting to my shrugging off of Catholicism's yoke when I reached the age of reason (15 in my case, YMMV), and identifying myself as a Buddhist. Nowadays I'm less inclined to ID even as that. My mom had a far more difficult time with my sister coming out of the closet (butch, you don't want pics - trust me).

I'm far from a kid, I'm 27 years old. Its just the easiest way to do it without throwing my beliefs in someone's face.

are you really that scared of your mom and Aunt Barb?

Or is it that you have decided to take a coward's stance? Nothing I have ever read in the Bible says that any man should have all the answers. Life is about seeking answers.

Anti religion is popular here.

I really don't understand why you would feel like some burden were lifted from your shoulders when the whole point of Jesus is that if you believe that's when the burden of your sins would be lifted.

Unless you were raised Catholic. Then I get it.
