I live next to a bunch of ricers.

Moved to the suburbs from the city about a week ago, and so far I've noticed about 3 riced out Honda Civics, 2 riced out Volkswagen Golfs, a couple riced out Toyota Celicas (the older, good looking models - not the new fugly crap), and even a not-so riced out Mustang, a Firebird, and a Camaro. The Firebird is the sweetest looking of the bunch. I'd say of all the cars the Hondas are the most annoying. I hear them go by at least 10 times a day with their buzzy bee exhaust. On top of that there's at least 5-6 scooter guys that live around here too, AND a cop around the corner. Wonder what the cop thinks of the ricers

I bought my car (96 Eagle Talon) that was riced off a son of a cop. Not all ricers street race. There is a cop in a neighboring town who owns a 98 Talon all riced out too.

Ricer (n)~ One who is too cheap to pay the entry fee to the 1/4 mile.

I used to drive an '82 Celica GT (totally not riced, we're talking brown and rust on the hatchback) and I would stomp on most ricers with it. (Civics and all that crap) The thing would do 90 in 4th, not too bad for 4 banger.

i knew there would be a racial thing coming out. People rice their cars cuz they CANNOT AFFORD REAL CARS. A 1995 Jetta is gonna be tons cheaper than a WRX, so they buy it, realize it has no potential for speed, and they throw $5000 into a stereo system to play what music is hip that week.

in any case... i think it's dumb.

unless they are making some ridiculous amount of noise... (i'd say mustangs or harleys probably make more)
why get pissed of at these ricers for their fake stickers?

it's one thing to laugh at their cars...
but it's a whole another thing to hate them for doing it.

Is it a race issue ? In my book "ricer" refers to someone who buys a perfectly OK (japanese) car, install huge stupid looking wing, body-kits, "Type-R"-stickers, lowers the suspension, adds alltezzas, bad-boy headlights and god knows what... It does't have anything to do with race.

Yea I know. I don't use flash THat's a java applet though. It's temporary until I get the menu's up and working.

But yea smoked tail lights are a mod. If you dont know what it is, it has nothing to do with actual smoke heh. It's just the term used for darkened tail lights, but the lights are still red, orange, and white when they light up. The appearance is that they are dark.

And yea ... I know our video is just me driving on the road. We just wanted to get some footage while we had the camera cause our friend (Jesse) is going to canada for a while with his camera, and we only had like an hour of daylight left, and it was raining. But it will get better

Oh, and I hate ricers also. I dont like cars that fart, I don't like cars that have stickers and decals all over them, I don't like cars that think they are fast and try to sound like they are fast when they arent fase, I don't like cars with big spoilers that don't fit, I don't like cars that look too busy, I could go on but I don't feel like it

I know my car isn't fast. It's a 2.0 and automatic. like I said ... i KNOW its not fast. But that doesn't mean I can't make it look nice. I am not going for the sporty-fast look in my car, cause like I said its not fast. But it can still look nice and clean

I don't think it's a hate or race issue. I'd have to say that most of us just think that it looks ridiculous (and yes, we do laugh at you). But if you (or your parents) want to spend all that money because you're so insecure that you have to try to look cool, even though you don't, then so be it. You're helping our economy and helping me laugh.

Well, I have seen some riced-out Supras and the like, so it can be a car that is not slow. But usually they are performance-challenged vehicles.

Okay thats cool. I am not going to argue with you because we have our own views. But me personally, I consider a mod something that you modify from the original. In other words, when I take out my stock tail lights, and put in new smoked tail lights, I consider it a modification because I am changing something on my car that was previously there from stock. But again, you may not consider that.

As far as some of those other things go, like synthetic oil, premium gas ... I agree that is not a mod because you are not removing anything out of your car to put the new ones in. The oil you are replacing was never originally there when you purchased the car. It was put in there and is not actually part of the car. You are just re-applying something because it ran out.

Heh I am just wondering ... my next mod is a Golf hood, smoked MK4 Style headlights for MK3 Golfs, and a 2 bar badgless golf grille. Would you consider this a mod or not? Just wondering ... not trying to start anything

IMHO, those who go out of their way to make fun of ricers are insecure as well. I mean....who cares?
