Is it a race issue ? In my book "ricer" refers to someone who buys a perfectly OK (japanese) car, install huge stupid looking wing, body-kits, "Type-R"-stickers, lowers the suspension, adds alltezzas, bad-boy headlights and god knows what... It does't have anything to do with race.

Jealous of WHAT? They have a sub compact economy car and they are pretending it is cool. BTW, I hate it because it offends my eyes to see such cars defiled.

Some people get these "sub-compact economy cars" because it's a challenge to make them fast and to make them nice. Instead of going out and buying a bigger engine like all the domestics do, they have to work with a small engine to make it powerful. I think it takes more time and skill (assuming they plan the mods) to extract power from a 1.6L then it does from dropping in a 5.0L powerhouse. Domestics = big engines, loud noise, lots of power. Imports done right = small engine, moderate noise, lots of power. Just because some people "rice" out their car doesn't mean you need to generalize against an entire catagory of cars.

i respect power any way someone can get it. Someone makes a fast civic, i will give them respect. Ricers are, by definition, not fast. Any car enthusiast will give a fast car the respect it deserves, regardless of brand, engine configuration etc. Ricers want this respect without actually doing anything to earn it. I have seen fast civics, i have seen fast camaros, i have seen riced civics and riced camaros, i dislike rice of any brand, and i like power any way someone can get it. Getting more power out of an already optimized engine is a feat that requires credit, tacking a 3' wing on the trunk does not.

Because they usually move around in herds. If I went and laughed at their faces, I would have half a dozen morons all over me. Besides, laughing at them doesn't accomplish anything, it just provides me with amusement (well, that is an accomplishment in itself). I'm calling BS on this "top secret" Supra w/ 1300 HP on a 4 banger. Link? I didn't think so. I drive a Toyota Supra, and there was not a Supra produced with a 4 cylinder engine, they all have inline 6's. I've seen some VERY heavily modified MKIV Twin Turbo's (with crazy boosts and whatnot) running low 10's to high 9's, but to claim a 4 cylinder Supra, which were not even made, would possibly hit 249 mph (higher than the top speed of a Dodge Viper GTS, folks) is ludacris. My MKIII Supra Turbo has 230 HP and 249 ft/lbs of torque stock, in a 3700 lb vehicle. It drives like a dream and has some get up and go to it for certain, but you don't see me driving around like a maniac who thinks he can stomp Z28 Camaros and Cobra Mustangs. I like my car a lot, but I would never rice it. It would just cost a lot, look ridiculous, and get stolen. I think it's a nice looking car as it is, and it certainly outperforms most of the pocket rockets linked in this thread.

I live in Michigan ("motor capital of the world") and find not only import rice, but domestic rice as well. Neons and Cavaliers appear to be the most popular of cars to rice out here. Surpassingly though, Michigan has a lot of Trucks and SUVs that are riced. They lower them, use neon lights, put on huge wings on the pickup, and use chrome anywhere and everywhere.

Near where I live in Grand Rapids there's a place everyone refers to as "The Lot". Friday and Saturday nights at around midnight everyone who thinks their car is bad a-SS shows up. I've seen up to a hundred vehicles show up at one time before. There's more rice there than you can shake a dead cat at. Fart pipes and all. It's amusing to me to call out the rice to race. Not wanting to look like a pu-SSy in front of his friends they usually accept (or come up with the usual rice answer, "I'm waiting for me turbo"). They can fart all they want, but my growling SS puts football field lengths on them most of the time. There's some that can actually run good, but that?s not too often.

I thought that Cadillacs with little itty bitty teeny tiny tires going 10 mph on the highway, with the driver seat reclined and only the top of a hat brim visible in the driver seat was infuriating, thank God I have only seen these a few times here in Cincinnati!!! What the hell is the deal with those little tires? That must be hell on gas mileage? or is it? Maybe I could get some of these on my Chevy S10 pickup......actually I have seen little itty bitty tires on a Pickup, they stuck out so far I do not think they were actually under the vehicle.

Oh, and by the way.....all of the above things were white suburban kids wearing A-type T-shirts!!! Isn't there a statistic about crime rates being higher among guys wearing those Tshirts?

i knew there would be a racial thing coming out. People rice their cars cuz they CANNOT AFFORD REAL CARS. A 1995 Jetta is gonna be tons cheaper than a WRX, so they buy it, realize it has no potential for speed, and they throw $5000 into a stereo system to play what music is hip that week.

Lemme give you some insight on why people "hate" on other people..

Obviously it's a result of some fear or insecurity resulting from a person's observation of a situtation in which he/she has no control over. In retrospect, the derogatory comments can seem very immature and juvenile, sad, but true.

I'm not saying's it's good or bad to hate on the ricehead chinkers, cuz sometimes I do it too,

and I'm a ricehead so I'm the same to blame.

But...I have to admit, the noise pollution muffler is kinda annoying, and it does look tacky sometimes when the ricers pull up next to you trying a little too hard to look cool.

That look quickly disappears when I see their expression in my rear view window after I torch their asss
