it's not disabled, just not implented into the core apps, notably the browser. but there are and will be more apps that use it.

That's what I mean - its disabled in the Google apps. Those Google apps are capable of multitouch in other versions.

I wish the Droid was out in Canada, because I really do need a new phone. I'm still using a RAZR that's slowly dying. Maybe Droid would be going too far...

Anyways, I saw this article recently. Apparently Verizon has some ridiculous monthly prices for this thing. For all you guys that bought the Droid, give it a read:

http://www.pcworld.com/businesscenter/article/181590/verizon_droid_tethering_will_cost_you.html

That's lame but doesn't affect me in the slightest. No use for tethering and I can't possibly imagine downloading more than 5GB to my phone a month.

Yeah, I kind of want one. Mainly I just want a good phone with Android 2.0, and this one seems to be kind of 'meh'. The coolest thing for me is the google navigation app.

Sadly I'm stuck on ATT for awhile, so unless I want an iphone I'm kind of screwed.

These charges have been in place for at least two years. I've used my XV6800 for a router on several occasions and have yet to receive one of these extra charges. The 5GB limit on a phone is more than enough. I use the Internet a lot and I'm lucky if I hit 1GB.

Got my Droid over lunch. Long, slow line at Best Buy - I think more people went there than to Verizon for it. Pretty good so far. Screen is awesome, keyboard is better than advertised, and I actually get better reception on it than I did on the Touch Pro 2 or the Palm Treo.

Damn I want one of these! Too bad I got a Blackberry Curve about five months ago, so I'm stuck for another year and a half unless I want to shell out full retail.

Exact same boat. I like my Curve but latest and greatest, as they say.

For what it's worth, I can't wait until a Droid-like device comes to AT&T. Contrary to what appears to be most of the nation, AT&T is the only thing that works in my area. :p

Oh, and about the data caps: nearly every provider is doing something similar. I've been grandfathered into a truly unlimited data tethering plan (for $60 additional / month), rather than the 5gb cap. That said, I've only exceeded 5gb usage within 1 month one time, and that was when i watched a ton of youtube videos on my laptop for a couple of days. 5gb is reasonable for cell data, IMO.

I'd get one of these if it weren't for the data plan cost. However, that's not unique to Verizon.

this phone could almost replace sex for me. it's that fucking brilliant.

Can't get to get some of the really nice apps. So far getting some of the free ones that fit my actual needs (odd: the ones I need are free, the ones that could be cool yet unnecessary = pay. who'da thunk it.)
Everything feels no natural and intuitive. 2.0 is definitely to thank for some of this, but never played with an Android phone prior other than seeing screenshots.

Screen dimensions arent important. The desktop scrolls to the side one screen in each direction. The wallpaper scrolls with it. Just put whatever you want on it, it will figure out resizing on its own.

Also, theres a few wallpaper apps in the marketplace.
