Of course not but it's beyond silly to take anything Trump says seriously as he lies constantly, about everything. On this issue specifically Trump has repeatedly made wild, unsupported claims about abuses by Obama that all turned out to be lies. If we're being rational and objective about this topic anything and everything Trump says should be dismissed out of hand due to his long history of lies. If another, actually credible source shows evidence of wrongdoing then that would be something worth considering.

Yes and no. The Justice Department is part of the Executive Branch, but operates independently. Sort of. They don't answer to the President as such, but the Attorney General is appointed by the President as part of his Cabinet. Do the math. Hilary managed to stay out of jail because Bill and Barack ordered their DOJs on what to pursue and what not to pursue.

...that's why Hilary stayed out of jail?

It is pretty irritating how people and the media continue to pretend to believe Trump when he makes claims like this. I mean how long does it take for people to understand that Trump doesn't care if it's true or not? There is no rational reason to presume anything he says is even remotely true.

People might then say 'that's why we need to investigate it!' No, we don't. It's like saying we need to investigate if the Sandy Hook shooting victims were paid actors because Alex Jones said so. Things are only worth investigating if they are made by credible sources, which Trump is not.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...trump-team-would-have-crossed-line-nunes-says

President Donald Trump said he’ll “demand” an investigation into possible infiltration of his campaign for political purposes by the Obama administration or others.

“I hereby demand, and will do so officially tomorrow, that the Department of Justice look into whether or not the FBI/DOJ infiltrated or surveilled the Trump Campaign for Political Purposes - and if any such demands or requests were made by people within the Obama Administration!” Trump said on Twitter.

His comment comes after House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said U.S. spy agencies crossed a “red line” if they planted a paid informant inside Trump’s campaign.

This whole series of events is such a shame. If Trump collaborated with a foreign government to win the election then he’s got what’s coming to him. If Obama used our justice dept to spy on the opposition for political purposes then screw him too. The US can’t survive this shit every 4-8 years.

It is already known that Obama, Biden, and the entire administration wasn't informed of the direct connections to the Trump campaign, then already under heavy investigation by the FBI (much of the Steele intelligence), until after the election. This was likewise only presented to Trump after the election, with the understanding by those in the FBI that the presentation of the intelligence, as verified as it was at the time, would likely convince Trump to resign before the inauguration. This stuff is documented. There is no "if" here regarding what you want to think about Obama. Obama was actually rather furious that the FBI didn't bring this to him sooner. But then, the strategy is understandable, imo. The smart money was always on Trump being thumped in the election, so making this knowledge public was itself a risk to the integrity of the election. Trump is a known madman, supported by bloodlusting morons, and being confronted with this prior to the election, would have only encouraged his claims that the "Government is trying to destroy the people!" and the morons would have reacted appropriately--probably quite violently. On top of that, the idea that our elections were so thoroughly, provably compromised by another nation is itself a dangerous prospect.

Unfortunately for this country, the fascist morons won the day, so the rest of the country is in damage control until this cancer of what we shall call "Trumptardia" can be removed.

A number of formally powerful people are in for some big, big trouble. By all means stick with those lying media sources that help you sleep at night. But gird your loins because it's going to get messy.

What lying media sources? Oh you must mean these. Because it would be hard to pick just one from all of these alternative news sources.

Can you guys help calm Brennan down? He appears to be on the path to stroking out before the week is over. Some good advice you could give him would be to hire the best criminal attorney he can afford. Oh, and to not get into any cars that pull up beside him even if there is someone he knows inside it. He's right on the cusp of becoming a liability.

Then there's Clapper, Comey, McCabe, Mueller, Lynch, Strzok and Yates for starters. They should all be concerned. VJ and 0bama won't get caught up in the fray nor will Hillary. But that library of 0bama's, it can be scaled way, way down. There just isn't going to be much to put in it. There's just no 0bama legacy remaining.

It seems crazy to automatically assume Obama's innocence though.

You are a Chinese spy infiltrating the US government to bring it down. It seems crazy to automatically assume your innocence.

See how that works? How shall we resolve this? Let's investigate you for criminal actions and intent. Why not? I have as much justifiable cause as Trump does. Power, or abuse of power, doesn't change these truths, or the lies made to cause an investigation.

Edit- This sort of action, using the Office to attack "enemies" real or imagined was responsible for Article 2 of Impeachment against Nixon.

It will be interesting to see what boomerang does when literally none of those people have legal problems and significant numbers of Trump people are indicted. My guess is that he will declare it all a Deep State Conspiracy. Of course the irony is that if the FBI were to investigate and refer Obama officials for prosecution he would view that as just and appropriate. The same FBI investigating and referring Trump officials for prosecution? Deep State coup.

Like I just said, remember Nixon, the IRS, and Article 2 of impeachments against Nixon.

Won't touch your Fox-fueled conspiracy theories, but I'm curious as to why you're so frightened of spelling Obama properly. Are you afraid Trump and Fox are going to come for you if you mention Obama's name? Do you think you're going to break out in hives if you spell his name correctly and treat him like the human being he is?

Odds Obama spied on Trump, zero. Obama respected our institutions and followed precedent. Trump tried claiming that bullshit without any evidence. He's a serial liar yet people like you continue to give him credibility

I remember way back when Trump first took office and there was discussion about Trump creating a "new normal" that we all had to accept and move on with.

Well I'm happy to say that that never happened, Well at least in this forum where facts really do matter. That aside, it brings the question to bear: Why is it that Trump and his fellow Repubs over at the House and Senate are forever fighting against having the truth of all they do see the light of day? They're totally preoccupied and immersed with this effort to stifle the truths of their deeds. I wonder why? (rhetorical)

Anyway, try and try as they may a lot of Trump supporters (not Casanova specifically) attempt to convince everyone else that this "new normal" where lies are the truth and this contrived deep state boogeyman is the new threat against America (Trump actually) is what we all should accept as the new reality where we are now supposed to believe in and support.

Not going to happen.

“BREAKING: Republican lobbyist just told me that Trump and his White House are “bracing” for indictments of Americans prob for conspiring against US & fraud. Likely to include Roger Stone, Sam Clovis, and more charges against Paul Manafort. Maybe Kushner and Don Jr”.

Could be another outburst before another hammer drops.

Apparently, the Nutter-in-Chief claims the dastardly FBI planted a spy in his campaign, in order to pass information to the Democrats for an October surprise that would undermine his bid for the presidency.

Which, as we now know, totally worked..lol

I going to assume Trump did not type that tweet out. And I can just picture Giuliani looking over his shoulder dictating to him

One of the downsides of believing in conspiracy theories is that these people - like Trump - genuinely believe that people get away with outrageous stuff, like staging mass shootings, faking birth certificates and 9/11 with holograms. Which leads them to believe that they can get away with outrageous stupid stuff. Now it doesn’t seem that anyone but Trump is putting much effort into pretending to be innocent anymore - mostly they’re just screaming about how the cops that caught them were out to get them and not playing fair.
Stupid window hides highlighting.

The IG is also the proper person to investigate abuse. I don't think Horowitz is going to succumb to political pressure which means he'll be on the Trump/Nunes hit list and that will eventually bite them.
Can believe that Obama appointee has survived this long.
