:Q I read more than that in a month usually.

Seriously. I'm like a book a week plus a bunch of newspapers and magazines.

that I agree with. I have always tried to impress upon people that I know (especially young nieces and nephews) that knowledge as well as intelligence is increased when you read alot.

It happened to me.

Management/Advertising...tell me which books would be required to get a degree in those areas? None.

Me too! I am so tuned in to the mtv generation (3 minute videos, 30 second commercials, 2 minute conjugations) that I can't do it.

After I graduated college I went to Borders and told myself that I was going to buy a book and read it all the way through.

I bought the book---years ago.

That's sad :(

I read about 40 fiction books this year just killing time in spare periods at school. I think you're giving up far too easily - there's bound to be a genre or style or author out there that you appreciate.

Reading is by far and away the number one way to develop your vocabulary. Like it or not, not reading WILL hold you back.

Reading is not something that is as lucrative as you make it out to be. It is for the masses. It seems that you are trying too hard to enjoy it. The easiest strategy is to find a book about something that you are obsessed about, however short itmay be. Continue reading that material and hopefully that will be a start

Several occasions?

Does that mean in 20+ years, the number of times you've attempted to read a book can be counted on your fingers?

I would say I have tried 8-12 times...fingers and toes
