Is it entitled, "How to stalk a girl in the library in less than 21 days"?

So is this a superiority, inferiority complex we are dealing with here?

Yes, you are correct dumbass.

Wtf are you talking about? He asked what I do for a living and I answered. I never alluded to being superior or inferior to anyone.

I don't read a lot. It takes quite a bit to get me into a book, otherwise I end up putting it down. Of course there has been a lot of required reading I have done.

That's sad :(

I read about 40 fiction books this year just killing time in spare periods at school. I think you're giving up far too easily - there's bound to be a genre or style or author out there that you appreciate.

Reading is by far and away the number one way to develop your vocabulary. Like it or not, not reading WILL hold you back.
I think the best strategy to deal with this is to try to find a book that holds your interest. Every reader has experiences with books that they can't put down, they are so engrossing. If you can't finish a book, you want to find a book that absolutely rivets your interest. If you can't find a book like that, well, I have to think you are either illiterate or practically brain dead.

I don't read anywhere near as much as I'd like to. My dad was a tremendous reader. I guess I knew this, but I didn't think about it while he was alive. When he died, I realized it. There are many books that he loved tremendously, and many of those he read several times.

Nowadays, I've got so many things to do and it seems I don't have time for them all, including reading, both for education and entertainment. Maybe I should take a speed reading class. I did take Evelyn Wood's speed reading class many years ago and I think they had a lifetime membership thing. Does anyone know? If true, and they're still around, I can presumably take another class for free!

I wasn't looking for a response as much as I was hoping for a catharis.

It's nice to see that I'm not alone.

eh, try some junky fiction books

The James Patterson books I've read go by fast, short chapters (although there are a lot of them), switch scenes back and forth a lot, generally like a movie script. You could make it toilet reading or something.

What did you do for tests and/or papers over assigned reading in high school and college English classes, use cliff notes and just enough BS?

I was in the same boat till about a year ago.

Go buy "American Scream" The story of Bill Hicks. he's America's most famous unknown comic and a true genious. His material kept him out of hte mainstream though :( Dies of cancer in 1993 I think.

The book was incredible to. You'll truelly love it if you don't like republicans, church etc and have done drugs before ;)

I made it through HS, College and some Graduate work without reading much material except the interesting parts. Though I have read tons of books that interest me cover to cover, I just cant do it unless it is my own will to do it. You can generally read the 1st, middle 2, and last chapter of a book and get the general idea. Heck, I took 25 credit hours my senior semester and hardly studied at all. :)

PS. I am ADD. It is awesome.
