I give that rant a 9/10.

Lucky for me my German\Polish ancestory doesnt have a plethora of glorified fast food joints based on its food.

Because boiled cabbage isn't a big drawl...

FWIW I have German and Hungarian ancestry and am very familiar with dishes that contain cabbage...

That's just because Italian food is edible and actually tastes good.

Cool. and here I thought hatin' on Italians was soooo 1910s. What's next, we bringing back the Irish defamation league?

For what OG charges for their dishes, it's crap. I'd rather go to Macaroni Grill or Maggiano's and pay the same price for food that is 10x better.

Seriously amazes me how you can take crap food, make it UNLIMITED, and people jump all over that sh1t. Woo hoo! Mixed greens with Italian dressing! Breadsticks that are worse than a cardboard tube of Pillsbury from the market! All I can eat? Must be the sh1t!!!!

Maggiano's FTW, Macaroni Grill is worse than Olive Garden :(

You are smoking crack.

I like olive garden but people like arbys so inono.

I think about it like this: This must be the feeling white people get when they get to order orange chicken and eat soup with chopsticks.

It's the burden of the white man. It's socially ok to make fun of white people because you guys are the majority. Get over. There's plenty of stereotypes on TV and OG is pretty mild at that.

Gimme a break!

The saddest part is the fact that 90% of Americans probably view Olive Garden as fine dining because its either that once a year for the anniversary or the Denny's next door.

exactly. It's like buckodafagocini or whatever on south park. It's not Italian, it's not fine dining, it's garbage.

Olive Garden is bomb. Unlimited breadsticks are the shit. And the shrimp alfredo is good.

Hmmm. Damn I have not been there in a while. I've also never been to Macaroni Grill but according to some of these posts I should plan a visit.

Fail

Going online to OG's and MG's sites, entering in my zip, and viewing the menu reveals a NEAR IDENTICAL price range. "Classic" items in the $12-15 range, and higher end meats and seafood dishes in the $17-20.

And MG absolutely KILLS OG.

Maggs doesnt' show prices on their website. Although I do remember the prices being more ($18-25 range) their portions were also WAY more than OG. Enough for 2+ people. The Rigatoni D is killer. Chicken Pesto Linguine, awesome.

Regardless, taste is subjective. But you are dead wrong when it comes to $$.

I stand corrected with respect to MG; it's cheaper than I remember. And yes, it does taste better than OG on average.

Maggiano's definitely is more expensive, and while they give more food, it's still (in my opinion) worse-tasting, meaning I don't want more of it.

MG does not give you all you can eat bread & salad with your meal. Take a family of 5 to both, and come back and tell me they were the same price. Taste is subjective, but I know every time I go to Mg I spend more than when I go to the OG. Might be different at other locations but the one MG I went to did not give me 3 salads and 2 baskets of bread sticks to munch on. I had to pay for my salad (just 1) if I had bought 2 more salads it would have probably ran me a good $10 more than the same meal at OG. $10 would wind up being about a 2 bucks shy of costing me TWICE AS MUCH. Pretty decent difference if you ask me. And I honestly find the food to be comparable. I know the four-cheese Alfredo pasta I had at MG last time cost me the same amount at the Alfredo with Chicken at OG. Chicken would have been 2 extra bucks at MG. If you're taking out a good sized family MG will cost you more, period.

Try to be more sensitive? Hopefully you're not really that much of a delicate wuss that his post offended you?

Also, it seems that a good number of people in this thread missed the fact that he said that he's Italian. So an Italian guy makes a funny rant post about the way Italians are portrayed in commercials, and all these delicate non-Italians get offended on someone else's behalf. Yawn.

All I can suggest is that people grow a thicker skin.

My general point of view is that getting offended to anything other than a direct personal attack constitutes having a significant character flaw.

If you want to grow a thick skin, just order a soup at Olive Garden.

MG does have bread, it absolutely kills OG's sticks, and yes it is free. No, salad is not. But the couple times I've had that salad, I couldn't eat more than a single serving of it. Basic greens swimming in italian dressing. Personally, I'm fine with paying $2 for a salad I actually want to eat vs paying nothing for one I don't want. Again, subjective.

Everyone's opinion is based on personal experience. I'm glad yours has been great at OG. Me, the 2-3 times I've given it a chance, I haven't had a single thing I enjoyed. And at the end when I got the bill, I was left with that "It cost THAT much for THAT??" feeling.

To each his own.
