The title says it all....I started a new PT Job today, and I hate it.
I run my own business, Web design and PC repair, however it is just getting started
so I wanted to do something part-time to supplement things until I get on my feet with my business.
I applied and got hired for a PT Internet Store Assistant position with a local company that is 5 minutes away.
Pros:
1)They seemed really nice during the interview
2)Willing to be flexible with my schedule knowing I have my own business.
3)Although the pay is only $8.00/hr they mentioned that it would
include medical coverage because it would be 20 hours a week,
plus it is not much, but it is steady income and my other business
is sporadic right now even though it pays a lot more.
Cons: (First Day on the Job)
1) I get there-say "Good Morning" to the boss, she ignores me.
2) I go up to her, she says...."we can't give you the medical"
at 20 hours a week, but we probably won't use you more than 16 hrs a week anyway.
(Translation = keep me at less than 20 hrs....NO MEDICAL BENEFITS necessary)
She then says, "would you still like to proceed"? I decided to stay and give it a try.
3) I meet the lady who will train me, she's totally unfriendly and doesn't seem to like me being there much and is a total b**ch.
4) First thing, their printer won't print and I offer to fix it for them. I end up fixing it and getting it to run great. They say nothing.
5) I ask the lady who trained me today at one point if she liked her job, you should have seen her face like I had asked her if she liked baby vomit. Her reply was "I USED to, but not anymore because they make me do everything. I said, "that's why I'm here", she made NO comment and shrugged as if "whatever". Um...disgruntled perhaps?
6) I learned everything in a snap, and did a whole lot of extra things as well, taking initiative and getting everything done, and no one seemed to care.
There were a few more cons, but we will leave it at that.
What would you guys do? Its not like I'm desperate for the $ I just wanted something steady to do in my off time. The people there are NOT friendly or very nice for that matter and seem to almost resent my presence. I don't feel very comfortable or welcome. The job itself sucks, its monotonous and boring.
I'm thinking try it for a week, and if I still feel like this QUIT. I'm still looking for other work.
Or would you guys stick with it?
Any advice apprecitated, thanks.
*UPDATE*
I drafted an email to the company and sent it, if anyone would like to see it please PM me and I'd be happy to share it and have your opinion, thanks
