ok so here's what I don't understand. why does anyone HAVE to go to work and cover someone? If it's your day off, it's your day off. If you keep covering for someone, of course he/she will think it's ok to be calling in sick. I've never been in a situation where it is required that I go to work when someone calls in sick.

Well in my case, her husband has a higher paying job, so she's always the one who ends up calling in. There have been several other call-ins over the past year. But she gets away with it. You can bet my ass would get reemed out if I called out anywhere near as much as she has.

My parents both worked until I was 15 (then they retired) but while they were working they had someone pick my sister and I up from school when we didn't have sports etc and take us home and watch us until they got back, but you're suggesting that they should have gone to jail because some half-wit can't manage their own life? First off, I am not bitching about the cost of kids, I am stating a fact that they are expensive. I also will say that when one has children, they are forever, ferrari's are not. When your ferrari gets out of hand you can sell it off for a loss or profit and get a vehicle of lesser cost and value, Now if I could just trade in my straight A's pain in the ass kids for some easy going cheap C students, I would be golden.

I think you should worry about yourself and nevermind anyone else. It's very hard to be a parent these days. If they ask you to pick up her slack, simply say "No".

Probably 6 hours, "Oh sorry I came in late had to drop the kids off" and "Oh sorry I have to head out early to pick the kids up". People just don't get it, they are your kids, they are your responsibilities and ****** you get earned income credit for having a kid, you wanted the child you get to pay about it (your choice). If I have a reason to take a day off I will use said sick or vacation time, maybe even ask a friend to cover for me. However I never make a habit of asking someone to cover for me. I've only asked once.

I recently lost two family members in succession and went through a break up with my SO.

I missed 1 damn day of work, it sucked but I went in and did my damn work. If your kid is sick IDC that's your problem you have my pity not my sympathy resolve the issue on your own time and your own way which doesn't involve me or my time.

To those people that can manage kids & a household more power to you. To those that bitch and moan about it your the damn reason I wish their was a state exam for parenting.
