i wonder why the father isn't sharing responsibility for the children.

Oh I do share equal responsibilty with my son. I get up with him every morning, feed him breakfast, change the diaper (even the nuclear waste ones), give him his bath, dress him, comb his hair, brush his teeth, and play with him.

So don't say we men do not share responsibility of taking care of the kids.
a bit defensive are we?

if your child is ill who takes off work to take him to the doctors?

Neither one of us. I work from 2pm-11pm, and she works 7 am to 345 PM. So I am usually the one taking him to the dr. I then drop off the prescription at the local Wal greens, and she picks it up on her way to my parent's house to pick him up. We made some sacrifices in order to keep him out of day care, as well as make sure he is with family most of the time.

Well in my case, her husband has a higher paying job, so she's always the one who ends up calling in. There have been several other call-ins over the past year. But she gets away with it. You can bet my ass would get reemed out if I called out anywhere near as much as she has.

Two working parents really needs to be illegal. Not just discouraged, ILLEGAL. As in PMITA Prison illegal.

Well, when we're no longer taxed out of our ass perhaps more families can afford to have only one working parent.

Only rich people should have kids. Solves the population problem and the poverty problem in one fell swoop.
Unfortunately, in the US everyone has the right to be fertile and careless with their reproductive organs...

i can understand why this is upsetting to you, but hypothetically what if one of your parents became ill and you needed to take them to the docs? wouldn't you hope others picked up the slack for you?

too bad her husband didn't make enough so she could stay home with the kids.

Funny thing is he likely does... however they then couldnt afford the 2 new cars, the big screen TV, 2 cells phones, new shoes every week etc etc.

I dont make much, but I make enough to support my family and have my wife stay home with our kids. They way it should be in every household. We live in a little house in a nice neighborhood and (try VERY hard) to live within our means.

Today people want 2 careers, everything that the Jone's have +1 and they want a family... sorry but very few can pull that off.

If it happens once or twice, I can deal with that. When it becomes a common occurence, then it becomes a problem.

Nope.

Depends on the parents income and who's watching the rugrats while they're at work.

Parents make $58k year (each), rugrats are put in daycare. And there WorstBuy rebates.

That's not an easy decision to make.

I'm afraid we'll have to re-convene the Ferengi high council before making an official decision.
