If you'd really use it, I'd say go for it. I LOVE the plastic jar - the square design and blade spacing make it really easy to get the product out after you mix it in the blender. My parents have an Oster Fusion and it's somewhat harder to get everything out, which is important if you're just making something small like a smoothie for yourself. I used my previous blenders on more or less a daily basis (smoothies with breakfast and then various things for lunch and dinner) which is why I decided to invest in one of these. The price tag makes me sick, but it's not like it's a toy I'll use for a week and then throw away; it's something I'll actually use every day. At least it's cheaper than a PS3 :D

Yeah, I would definitely use it. I currently have a VitaMix, which is in the same price range as this, but I've heard better things about BlendTec.

Yeah my friend has a Vita-Mix, but I too have heard better things about the Blendtec. I think the Vita-Mix is supposed to be better at heating up soups though.

The point isn't that a blender isn't usually what you make those things with, it's that I can make those things with a blender

I have a VitaMix too, its kick ass. I love making Alfredo sauce with it, from cold butter/milk /creamchease/parmesean cheese/flour to boiling hot sauce.. kick ass

Adamantium.

That explains everything.

They tried to blend Wolverine, but it broke. Same thing happened with Jack Bauer, oddly enough.

1 and 1/3 cups milk
1 clove garlic
1 table spoon all purpose flour

some black pepper (i use the black pepper balls without crushing them.. fresh, let the blender do the work)
you can add herbs to make it more flavorfull

Well Wolverine could heal himself and had a higher Adamantium mass, and Jack probably had Chloe break into the blender's mainframe and upload a virus to the motor.

Decently well. I am no margarita expert, though - I have no idea if I'm doing them right. I usually get them when I go to a Mexican restaurant (non-alcoholic because I am not a drinker) and I really like the flavor/iceness. It's like a high-quality Slurpie without a ton of sugar. I haven't been able to nail down the consistency yet. The trick is to crush the ice first, then add the margarita mix. The mix I got is kind of a thick syrup, strawberry-flavored. It's quite good, but I need to figure out how to make it a little less thick without being too sugary.

If you have any tips I'd love to hear them!

I see a future for Blendtec at both Jack's hostage negotiation sessions and in Heros (think of the garbage disposal) :Q

Not too sound like a nit-picker but 1500 watts is not 3 Hp. 746W = 1Hp. 1500W = 2.0107238605898123324396782841823Hp :-?

Apparently a "clove" of garlic is not the same thing as an entire garlic...thing. Apparently I put 2 entire pieces of garlic in my marinara sauce, causing it to be horribly nasty. Guess I will be trying it again :D

The cheesecake finished setting:

http://orionmods.com/temp/blendtec/cheesecake.jpg

I ended pouring the entire batch of strawberry sauce on it since it wasn't very thick, so if it looks like there's too much, that's why. The flavor is absolutely perfect. Yumm-o! Dump the ingredients in the blender, blend, pour into one of those graham cracker-crust pie tins from the store, bake for 45 minutes. Mmm...

A clove is like a slice of orange. A bulb is the whole garlic thing that grows in the ground.

Kaido, how did you get the cream cheese to blend?

Yeah, I've never worked with anything but garlic powder. Oops

Howard, the cream cheese blends just fine in the blender (16 ounces, no less!). All I did was dump the ingredients in and blend. One button, that's it. Phenomenal. And the square jar made pouring it into the pan really, really easy - no spills off the side or anything. Next time I make a cheesecake maybe I'll make a video; it did it all in one shot, with all the ingredients inside, without any help from me. Mmm, super-blender...

How does the Vitamix boil things? Does it have a built in heater?

edit: I've never used a blend for more than 1 minute at a time.

Hold up... That is requires 1500 watts? Is that continuous? That is 13.6 amps!

Guess you can't use it anywhere but the bathroom and kitchen! :)

What does GFCI have to do with the amperage it draws?
