honestly looking at your last pic i do not think you need to be any skinnier. you had some ab fat that you could lose before but now you do not have much at all. my opinion would be to actually work more on your core as your chest and arms are built fairly well. looking at the picture my opinion ( not an expert one of course) would be to work on your obliques as they seem smaller than the rest of your body. your abs seem that way now too.

lol @ the wavy bathroom mirror.

Nice job man, that obviously took a lot of work. I finally dragged myself back to gym. Squatted 140 and pressed 85. Baby steps. I'll be close to my PRs again in 6 - 7 weeks.

the wavy mirror is at the gym. it is kind of funny now that you mention it.

consistency that's the secret. stick with it

I am down a little more weight. I was 198 on sunday. hanging 199-200 now. I hit the magical 19" arms already, even at this low bodyweight. Now I would just like my skin to tighten up in a few areas, but still looking pretty good considering I carried a fair amount more weight for more than a few yrs.

know where i can get energy supplements with taurine and b vitamins but no caffiene or hard stimulints. i really do not drink energy drinks that often but whenever i do my body feels good and i think it is the taurine. also what protein sources do you use. i had to start using protein powder because otherwise i was eating too much salt. you can easily get 7 grams of salt or more from a large meal at wendys. really have not been taking it that much lately but my body often craves protein and i do not eat that many carbs.

HPN makes a preworkout that has no real stims in it. It's expensive though.

otherwise doing some looking around this is what people are recommending

based on your requests, I think this is the one you should try first

as far as protein I take dymatize. new flavor isn't so "improved" but its a quality protein and is economical ... others MTS machine whey or ON gold standard

Not sure if serious about the brock comment. Please post up a pick of you being even close to a somewhat lean 240 at 6'+ tall. It's easy to pick out a select few and say look how tall brock is and he weighs 280. This isn't realistic for 99.9999% of people. People have a very skewed look at what big is:
here's Flex Lewis @ 220. He competes at 212. How many guys you know look like he does at that weight?
1488656_10151804936821176_1018394407_n.jpg

there is a kind of general rule. if a guy is a legit 220+ and 10% or less bodyfat he likely is using.

People don't understand what a lean/ ripped guy looks like or what a real 10% looks like. A legit 220lb at 10% is BIG.

actually i just meant enrgy drinks. if i am going to take pre workout i do not care if there are any stimulints in them as long as they are not too bad.

how clean is dymatize. i know some people swear by it for the price. on is a nice protein. just want to stay away from dirty protein powders like cytosprt or lean pro 8.

also what types of protein powders do you use. whey and casein? what about egg or soy isolate?

exactly. I see an old acquaintance at the gym a week ago. he says to me "holy shit, what are you doing that I'm not? How much do you weigh?" I say about 200 lbs... everyone one in the weight area stops and you hear.. "no f^cking way!" "I weigh 220" "I weigh 210" "I weigh more than 200 and I don't look like that" - everyone has a very skewed idea of what big is.

That said, their is a guy that trains at my gym that's a pretty solid 235 at the same height as me. you put us side by side, you wouldn't think there's a 35 lb difference. weight is some sense is just a number

you can mix the preworkouts anytime of day for an energy drink. as far as a premixed energy drink I really don't know.

dymatize is a legit and clean.... but clean to me and clean to you might be different things.

I use whey concentrate and a hydrolized when isolate

I don't supplement that much protein. only about 60 grams a day. I prefer to eat

I would kill to find the article, but there was a study done about perceived size at different body fat %. The conclusion was that people will perceive you as getting smaller until 10%. After that because of muscle definition they begin to percieve you as getting larger.

I really need to bookmark this stuff, annoying not to be able to find it.

that it has what it says it has and uses no bad indegrediants like poisons or bad chemicals. whether a protein shake has some extra carbs or sugar does not matter to me that much as i do not even use as much as you. my protein supplement usage varies widely from non at all to 2 or 3 shakes a day. and it varies week to week. and even month to month as starting from last fall. from december of 2011 to last fall i had probably 20 to 25 protein shakes every month but for some reason i have not had the hunger for them as much anymore. have still been eating a fair amount of food including protein. had some more for a while during this winter though.

I think a gym membership might be higher on the priority list than the protein supplement. come down to Cottage Grove, I'll get you in for a few days for fee.

You've got the gift. Good genetics. It's like this is what you were meant to do. I just started working out again after a 9 year lull and I know it's tough but your diligence and perserverance has paid off and will continue to do so. Good job.

Note: I'm 6'4 and I weigh 270 pounds and I look lean but I've got a little bit of a gut. I just can't get rid of it so I don't worry about it anymore.

There is no "I can't get rid of it". There is only bad eating habits and choices.

If you made better choices/ ate less you can get pretty lean within 8-16 weeks IMO.

If you have a reasonable amount of muscle mass you can probably cut on at least 2700-3000calories a day.

Legs and upper body.. I train legs harder than my upper body. Just because I have big arms doesn't mean my legs are lacking.

I really don't care either. I would applaud you if you were bigger than I was and at least as lean. what I do, I do for me. I just think it's humorous; I interpret what you are saying as unless you are 250... maybe even 280 your aren't big. further you are implying that if I have big arms I likely don't have big legs. AND to go even further you are saying your are 20% bodyfat... which means you are high enough that you really can't tell what % you actually are and you giving out advise to me like I should be doing full body workouts......

not everyone has the same goals. My goals are obviously different than yours. that said, if you could magically drop to sub 15% bodyfat, have visible abs, you would do without hesitation. there is a reason you are 20%(realistically probably higher). You might say it's because you want to be. as a person that has been there and done that dance, I can tell you, you are where you are potentially for a couple reasons:
1.) you are lying to yourself about "wanting to be"
2.) you are too lazy to do what is required to lose the fat

I might come across as arrogant, but I have done things a lot of others secretly wish they could. I get told regularly by guys at my gym that they don't like coming to the gym when they see me working out because I make them feel bad about their builds - > some of them are people I have no interaction with. heck a guy I trained with from time to time asked me last week what I weighed. I replied about 205.... he says no really what do you weigh?? again, i said 205... he drops his head and says you ruined my week. he says I am 220 and don't look anywhere near as big as you... he was serious and it was true. At 15 lbs less I was bigger.

I hear other people comment that "I could look like that if I juiced"... maybe you could I tell them.

I am not the end all be all. there are a lot of people bigger, stronger, leaner, more aesthetically pleasing than I am. I have worked damn hard to get where I am. sometimes it's hard to read people via the net, but I get the sense you are trivializing my build/workouts. I try to be a straight shooter and call them as I see them... and right now, other than Koing's build, I am not seeing anything comparable to what I have put together. If that's arrogance so be it. maybe it's me being a little naive and/or ignorant... have people post up pics. it would be awesome to have a tech forum full of jacked people that love training.

You are only seeing a part of me on this forum. Sure I'm an asshole at times, heck maybe even most of the time, but I would love for everyone replying to any of my threads to be better than I am -> stronger, leaner, bigger. I have trained for the better part of 20 yrs. some years better than others, and it took me that long to really get my body figured out. I always had the training aspect figured out, but it's the 150-160 hrs outside the gym that is biggest factor. It's easy to lie to yourself and think you are doing what needs to be done... it's harder to bite the bullet and actually do it.

I keep referencing BIOS3TRAINING, but I feel we have a lot of the same mindset. I would like to train with him and see how our styles compare, but here's another good video I watched today warming up for my training today. I am trying to take this to heart:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kLhkVmj9dX8

What I would give for someone like you to train me. I need someone to be an asshole to me to get me to stay in line.

upper body probably. but anyways i do not care. i would have to go get a camera and i am building a computer right now. at least when the last of my parts get here.
Lame excuse. If you are going talk smack to a guy that is superhero big, back it up. If you do not feel it was smack talk, well it is how I read it. So you made it ambiguous enough to be misinterpreted.

That said, the fact you have different goals is understandable; start your own thread. I love combat sports and martial arts and would definitely participate. Both you and Pantlegz's posts (some of them) in this thread are somewhat confusing to me. While you are doing him the service of a bump, some of it is thread hijacking. And I say this as a member, not a mod. Now I will stop with the derailment myself.

On topic: You are a massive dude Zivic. That level of dedication is something everyone regardless of goals should respect.

was not talking smack. honestly i just think spend way too much time trying to get a low body fat when 1-% to 15% is enough. if zivic wants to lean up he can go for it.

Yes, if you train combat sports, you can start a training thread. You can use it as a log, or foster a discussion about training in general. It is a fitness topic.

alright.

are there any supplement threads? i was thinking about making a general supplement thread where we can put up thoughts on particular supplements.
