I dont like Black History Month

If were gonna have black history month, why not extend it to all blacks, like the ones in Africa who gave people over to European slave traders. It's silly how not one negative thing is mentioned in Black History month, They should rename it black pride month, that's really what it is

This boils down pretty easily for me. You see, basically, we (white people) fvcked up black people's sh!t for 400+ years, BIG TIME. Yep, that was us. Even after the Emancipation Proclamation, we CONTINUED to fvck up their sh!t for about 100 more years. Ergo, they were (are?) a race of people (at least in the United States) without the clearly defined identity that they deserve. In other words, once civil rights became a reality, African-Americans had (have?) a lot of catching up to do. To that end, concepts such as Black History Month have been invented to garner a sense of pride and identity within the community. I suggest, therefore, that you let the issue drop. The Black Community feels that there is a need for Black History Month. It quite simply affects you guys precisely nil. Whites don't always have to be in the spotlight, you know.

No, they got it by being annoying fvcktards and pulling the race card every chance they get

Ahhhh - the Kloset Klansman rears his ugly head again . . .

That's the problem with today's society, someone pulls the race card, you call it shens and everyone else calls you a racist.

My ancestors were still in England and Germany when all this was going on. Why should I "pay them back" for something that neither I nor my ancestors did?

No. It does not garner identity. It garners a sense of entitlement and racism.

I never said it wasn't. I said that I'm fine with Black history month, and they should be find with White history month. Any holiday that celebrates a people would be fine.

So, explain to us how devoting a month to Black History inconviences you.

Actually, it inconveniences me a bit. I don't mind it, but it gets annoying. You see, being a technical person at a K12 educational facility, our morning announcements must, apparently by some retarded policy, include a tidbit of "african american history" every morning. This involves a 30-45 second narrative written by some total numbskull in freshman english, read by another numbskull who can't read because the normal announcers refuse to read anything longer than 5 lines. It's a grating experience every morning at 7:40 during black history month. Oh, and it gets annoying hearing the same GDMF story about how MLK got shot or some dude invented the pencil sharpener every year for 13 years.

It'll probably become less "celebrated", or maybe I should say observed, as time progresses. When the lines dividing race in America become less distinct.

Yes, soon we'll all be Mexican instead of white or black.

"Discrimination or prejudice based on race."

If it looks like a duck and acts like a duck.

Why do we need one specific month devoted to Black History? Shouldnt it be taught to students year round intertwined with European History et al?

There is not enough of it for the whole year 😉
And you can only show "Roots" so many times 😀

Playing the race card is fun, I see why so many people love doing it.

I don't like the idea of a Black History month but if they feel it is pertinent to focus on one aspect of history then all the more power to them.

I'd like to see more world history taught in K-12 schools. They need to up the history and remove the computers (honestly, comp courses at high school are useless and really have no place there). In Canada, like the USA, most history is just focused on the founding of our country, a few big name leaders and then a big focus on the wars. It would be great if students had a more "worldly" knowledge (geography included).

Schools should teach five things and five things only IMHO:
Math
Science
History
Geography
Engrish
