I'd characterize Biden's primary debate performances as more "basically fine" than anything else but that should be … basically fine. (That's pretty much his motto, imo.) On the plus side, the GOPs histrionics have set an incredibly low bar for Biden in the debates. Given the extent that Trump's benefitted from low expectations, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Did he do all that well in the Primary debates though? Kamala pretty much destroyed him didnt she? Not talking about the debates only, but he started the primary race as an overwhelming favorite, slipped badly, and barely pulled out the nomination at the last minute, after a lot of other candidates dropped out, and who knows what kind of manipulation behind the scenes. I certainly dont think his debate performance was the determining factor in getting the nomination.

He led the primary polls for all but like two days. It was basically wire to wire.

Seriously? He was basically counted out until his win in the SC primary. He finished fourth in Iowa, fifth in New Hampshire, and second (far off the pace) in Nevada. source and more information

You are conflating state caucus and primary results with national polling of democratic voters. Fski is talking about the latter not the former.

i agree with you and more specifically it was Jim Clyburn's endorsement that turned the tide in SC.

What? He had a bad February. That when the attacks from the GOPers in the Senate and tRump where hitting the Hunter item hard. One endorsement never makes a candidate. It started the snowball to the end, but he was always the front runner given the constant attacks from the tRumpanzees.

I'd probably contend that once black people got to weigh in that the perception of who the front runner is suddenly shifted when it probably should not have been a surprise. This is where the argument for picking a state more representative of the party's makeup than uh say Iowa or New Hampshire to hold the first primary comes in. Illinois or New Jersey likely the prime options.

Based on his town hall this evening he looks much more Presidential. He is actually answering questions. He is taking shots at the giant target that is tRump, but at least the entire mantra is not “No, I am not responsible” for anything.

Biden posting really healthy numbers in AZ. I'm hard pressed to think that NV is some secret huge problem with AZ polls like this. It will probably be close due to the states limited elasticity as usual, the margin just doesn't open a ton.

RBG's passing has thrown this whole election a curveball.

It would not surprise me if Trump won just because of SCOTUS seat. A lot of people who voted for Trump voted because of SCOTUS. And the senate will stay red.

I'll be back on Nov 4th to check the results but I have a feeling nothing is gonna give the dems the white house/ scotus/ senate this year. Nothing.

I just can't come up with what voters aren't already in his camp due to court seats who are going to head there now in sufficient numbers to erase a 7-8 point deficit. Suburban women aren't pounding on the capital doors demanding that they appoint more justices to eliminate abortion and cancel the ACA which is what he thinks they want for some reason.
