It's the fourth Cat-5 hurricane since he's been elected, and he's said the same thing every time.
Whether or not he's an idiot, he sure likes to come off as one. He thinks it ingratiates him with his base. It also lets him off the hook for needing to be informed/cognizant. Then he'll just roll with the punches and lash out without regret or apology. It's his m.o. It's worked so far, but we'll see. Can't wait 'til he's passe.

Cat 4 now, everybody back to the beach.
LOL, not quite yet, since it's only been moving at 1 MPH for the last several hours it's exhausted most of the heat energy from underneath it. If it holds current track forecast the max winds we will see in Daytona is around 90 MPH, this is doable as far as concrete-block home construction goes, but my worry is sogged tree roots enabling overturning events.

You’re right that we don’t need to drive large vehicles, but the point that you’re missing is that a volcano erupting, or a large solar flare, or other examples of natural phenomena has much greater impact. Also, it’s not the United States driving the pollution train. It’s the vendors that we use in China, APAC, Africa etc..

This is wrong. Solar flares and volcanoes are transient events. What we care about is long term impact and humans are #1 on that.

In addition, the metric you should look at is per capita carbon emissions. Does that change your mind?

For every wanna be socialist here at Anandtech, they magically forget where we get our useless junk from. It’s now criticized to put tariffs on China, yet you want home tariffs (tax’s) on gas. Sorry, it’s difficult to take anyone seriously here that has such stupid policy./quote]

I don’t think you understand what you’re talking about. It is criticized to put tariffs on China because it’s a tax that is designed to make our economy less efficient which is dumb. Gas taxes are designed to both fund infrastructure and to discourage gasoline use, both of which are positive things, particularly in the context of a global warming debate.

Before you call people stupid you should understand the topic.

[quote[Bring the jobs back to the states, pay more for goods and pay people for manufacturing goods and products on the homeland.

So to be clear you think we should manufacture things in a less efficient way? Why?

I can clearly tell you’re not familiar with the EPA gas mileage measuring. You’re SUV engine isn’t getting better m/g at 40%. I don’t feel like educating people here about why start/stop is the leading cause for gas usage, and more stop lights and signs, traffic stop/start are the leading cause of emissions.

His point was that his current car gets better mileage than his previous one.

Seems as though Trump's enormous ego was enough to begin deflecting the storm away from a direct hit with FL. 😛

Still rooting for a direct hit on Mar-a-Lago...
The Evangelicals prayed it away!

Dorian is more powerful than any sky fairy...(it's real)

Isn't that significanlty higher than CAT5? Is it the beginning of the official CAT6? I just hope it hits Mar-A-Lago and levels it. At the least serves as a wake up call.

We can hope...(sorry West Palm Beachers...)

A "direct hit" on Mar-a-Lago" would bring severe misery and destruction on the whole of the southern portion of the state, I hope you would want to wish that on millions of people.

Well...it IS Flori-Duh...home of FloridaMan...so...

But he's never heard of a cat 5 before....... Stable genius strikes again.

Playing off of his "it could have been worse" regarding a shooting, someone needs to tell him how bad cat 6e hurricanes are so he can tell us this could have been worse. 😀

Cat 6e hurricanes have so much rain width, you wouldn’t believe how much rain width they have. No one can even know. It’s like sciencey stuff and they stuff is like witch craft.

You won’t believe what the satellite is showing today!

Now Cat4 and the eye is stalled over north-western Bahamas. Those people are just plain shit out of luck ruined. FL apparently dodged a bullet... this time, but the way things are going, I wouldn't want to live in Florida, or on the gulf coast, or the Carolinas or Georgia.

spent weekend in mertle beach helping some friends get their house ready to rent when this storm popped up so we changed gears and got the house preped for Dorian and left town monday morning.

And, of course, Trump had to eff up the entire situation by saying several times that Alabama was in danger from the hurricane - something that was just not true.

Sunday morning, at 10:51 a.m. ET "In addition to Florida -- South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated,"

Sunday morning at 11:14 a.m. ET, "Now it seems to be going up to toward South Carolina, toward North Carolina. Georgia is going to be hit. Alabama is going to get a piece of it, it looks like."

FEMA briefing beginning at 12:31 p.m., "Dorian "may get a little piece of a great place: It's called Alabama."

Sigh.

Does he know where the fuck Alabama is? Serious question.

Trying to convince my in-laws to move out of hilton head island. They took it on the nose with Matthew in 2016, a few more of those and you won't be able to give away a house on that island.
