BB store manager said they are holding current and future warehouse shipments for paid/confirmed instore pickup. So instore availablity is not accurate. He did not know how many are available companywide or if any in midwest region.

Each store shipment is allocated 5 per SKU/version.

Not sure how accurate this is, but here are some zip code searches for best buy instore availability.

16 gig

32 gig

Only 1 store has availability near me, and it's too far away to bother.

Couldn't agree more!!! Those who missed out on the deal have become jelous now and full of hate. Grow UP!!!!D:

Cheers ()🙂

Some of you are confused and more sadly pissed that people who could care less whether or not they know enough about tablets bought some touchpads? We're talking about touchpads, not some nuclear weapon. You check email, you browse, you play a game here and there, it's not rocket science.

Sow what if they bought one. If they don't use it they can always hand it over to their kids or give it away as a present. And again, it's a tablet...a device people use for SIMPLE tasks. Being a dead/unsupported changes absolutely NOTHING when the devices already works for the tasks above.

If you got on the deal congratulations!

I'm jelly. Of course I didn't check the hot deals at all this weekend and I was thinking about a multitouch touchpad.

Almost as hot as the contest people were botting to get a bunch of free samsung tabs, which I also missed out on. Lame.

I think that's the part that aggravates me the most, the fact that most people don't even get the opportunity because of resellers buying it for a profit. I'm not really jealous, I'm just annoyed that in order to get a good deal these days you basically have to stumble on it, purchase immediately and not tell anyone about it.

And if it's on SD, don't even bother, it's sold out within a few minutes if it's anything worth buying.

That's fine if you want to gift them or just use them for a basic device. It's just annoying when you have people buying large quantities just to sell on eBay or an Amazon storefront and causing your order to cancel. Eventually, it will all sort itself out and everyone will be able to get one for the price that they feel is reasonable, but it is just slowing the whole process down when you have people hoarding them thinking that they are going to be able to sell a 16 GB model for $500 or more when HP couldn't move them at $400. Most of us don't want to wait for the invisible hand to bitch slap those greedy asshats.

It's all about timing. You can hate the resellers, but this deal went live Friday night. Plenty of B&M's had this Saturday morning - I had friends post there were stacks of Touchpads when they bought theirs - the employees were surprised at the pricing, as they were completely clueless. Take it for what it is.

Exactly. Here, you have the community aspect of people trying to help each other get great deals, and those jackholes are undermining that sense of community just to make a quick buck. The situation could have been easily solved if HP and the other retailers limited quantities, but they were in too much of a hurry to liquidate inventory and it turned into a feeding frenzy. I almost wonder if HP is going to jack up the price if they DO come back into stock, since they now know that people are willing to pay $200-$300 for them.

Not sure what a B&M is but most of the places I called said they sold everything in a few hours. Granted I missed the deal by a day, so you are right about the timing, but they still sold REALLY, REALLY quickly, especialy online. I thought I read somewhere that 350,000 units sold in that first day.

If there is a second wave, I bet the same thing will happen, especially since HP couldn't even keep up with people clicking on the notify me link and had to disable it. As soon as that email comes in notifying people, that site will crash again.

I agree with you about how these resellers r buying it and exploiting people. I found out about the deal late Sunday night and then my friend told me that they are still available on B&N and so I bought one from them, but yesterday evening while on my way home I get the cancellation email from them. I was pissed but I have been looking since then and today someone posted the link to insight website and I jumped on it. I don't know if u have ever lived in a hurricane prone area, it similar to how the panic spreads and all the grocery stores are wiped clean even if the people buying the stuff have got their pantries full of food.

I ordered 2 touchpads this morning for myself and my brother. I could have bought more and sold it later for some profit but I decided to share the link with my friends and colleagues. So they got a chance to buy some too 🙂

A lot of retailers bungled the execution, though. They were slow to drop the price, they had inventory systems that were not updating in real time, and you had outlets like Best Buy that went from refusing to sell them because they were returning them to putting them on sale late in the afternoon or in the wee hours of the morning. It just turned into a clusterfrack of canceled orders and it left a lot of people frustrated. I feel the whole experience has been way more frustrating than any Black Friday sale because you don't have a time or place you know you need to be to grab the deal.

Well apparently 2 BB near me have both 16 and 32 gb versions. On hold with both locations (thanks work multiple lines!), guessing I'm not the only one wanting to get one...

People are straight up predators I guess, probably 2/3 or more of the sales are to profiteers trying to make a quick buck.

Anyway, I ordered my single unit through OnSale/Amazon 8/21 2:20pm, Expedited shipping. Received all the confirmation emails then, has been 'Shipping Soon' in status with Amazon since then. No cancellation email so far. Hoping they come through 🙂

DAMNIT!

The BB about 5 min from my house got a shipment today but are totally sold out. BASTARDS!

I've heard a lot of this, I guess a lot of BB's are getting shipments today, the problem is that people are already camping out waiting for them to arrive lol. The store near me switched status from not available to in store only, but I doubt they have any left. I've been on hold for a while.

Yeah, I'm not keeping up to date enough on this thing so I'm most likely just going to chalk it up as "no big deal." I didn't jump on it over the weekend because I couldn't figure out a use for it. Monday morning I figured, eh what the hell I'll find a use and it's $100 to play see if a tablet is useful for me (in the future).

Yeah same here, for $100 it's worth it but I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I have an order confirmation with insight and erwin, but I've been hearing that both of those stores sold out last night as soon as SD put them up, so I'm probably out of luck anyhow.

My local BB has shown having units in stock for two days but they haven't had any (I went once in person and called the next day). The same was true for Office Max. Those online stock status checks aint worth much when the rubber is hitting the road..

BB just updated 2 more stores near me for availability less than 2 mins ago and the phone is already busy at both stores.

Anyone near saratoga springs, NY best buy, they just got 16 32gb touchpads in, first come first serve, they won't take orders over the phone.

why does everyone want one? isn't webos dead? what can anyone do with it besides being a web browser and mp3 player, no new apps.

people on sd are going crazy over this, seriously crazy.

Because there's already a significant "bounty" out for any person/team that successfully ports Android to it. Let's face it, a solid Android build on this hardware is going to rock the tablet world @$99.
