really not going to do much without a barrel even if you did set it off. nothing for gasses to build up to create any velocity. You wouldn't want to be holding it when it goes off though.

Put the casing (gently) in a vice...use pliers to remove the bullet.

It's highly unlikely that the round will go off in the vice...but I don't know if you're trying to save the casing or the bullet....there are different ways to accomplish this, depending on your desired outcome.

If I want to save the bullet how do I save the bullet. I have a fmj bullet and I don't want to damage the jacket as it is an important part of my project.

Gotta love it when a complete novice asks for advice on how to something mildly dangerous that requires a certain amount of skill and knowledge, especially when it's being done for no apparent rational purpose and a non-dangerous alternative is readily available. What is you intended purpose? do you need the bullet or the casing? I reload my own ammo PM me if you just need a bullet or a casing ill mail one to you.

Yeah, I'm reading that this is really the only safe way to do it. Pliers are not recommended.

I don't have a bullet puller so I'm just going to forget about this. It just doesn't seem safe.

ive done this a few times and as long as you dont smack the primer you are not going to make the round go off.

I have always seen that you wait until the clock says 007 then cut a wire. Works every time.

Just buy a damn bullet puller... they're cheap and you know you're doing it right.

Also, if you just need bare FMJ bullets then just buy them. Why buy a fully assembled round just to disassemble it when bullets are available?

volts don't kill - a static shock is double the voltage in the copper wire. I can pretty much guarantee he didn't get any electrical advice from ATOT.

Nothing at all because to get to the back of the bullet you've already had to remove it from its casing.

As a kid I found a live shot gun shell on the ground and I decided it would be fun to cut it with an axe.

No explosion, no nothing, I just got lucky really. lol.

My pops didn't have paintball as a kid so they shot bb guns at each other instead. When I was still a pup he let me smash 22s with a hammer in the driveway, take apart shotgun shells and such, he did make me wear safety glasses though.
