Back in 1999, I bought a GMC Suburban (sticker was $42K...financed $30K). I planned on keeping in for a few more years; however, 2 weeks ago, some slimeball driving drunk totalled it after ramming into me twice at 90 mph.

Hence, since money is tighter now (and I figured, who knows when another drunk will come around), I bought used. Got a fully loaded 2003 Chevy Tahoe. Sticker was $24K, but talked them into $22K. It only had 46K miles on it and the leather seats have no wear marks. It has all the bells and whistles that my Suburban had plus a bunch of extras (including a DVD player with wireless earphones).

It sucks what happened...but life goes on.

What if your home is paid for and you're maxing out three retirement accounts (401k plus two Roth's) plus $400 per month into a brokerage account? Can I buy one over $15,000 now?

My wife has been trying to do that very thing for about a year now. If it weren't for my daughters (she is 7) school being about 500 feet from my current home, she would move in a heartbeat. I have at least 4 more years here and hopefully, longer.

Remodel this one to make her want to stay here!

its a 1992 SEAT Marbella, with 990cc displacement and 40 horsepower. Pushrods(lol, like a corvette) and other ancient things make it reliable, tiny displacement makes it cheap on gas, and a weight of 750KG means it's A) Driveable, B) I'll be put out of my misery if I crash.

Its all good though, I'll be driving it to Mongolia next year
