My employer at the time did not pay it like they were supposed to, but they were putting it on my check as payed. They wrote child support a bad check, and I got fined for it. Their reply, "it is you responsibility sir, to pay it". BS, in Oregon they automatically start a garnishment. 8 more years. My daughter is worth it though!!!!!!!

True! There is no such thing as an amicable divorce to the overweight single-mom office workers staffing the child support office. They treat you as if you were an abusive, non-faithful, acoholic child abuser. The males out there get screwed big time.

In reply to all those people out there who say you should accept your wife is she gets fat, I don't buy it. Now I'm not going to divorce my wife at the first signs of weight gain but things like losing an arm, cancer, disease and what not are all unpreventable for the most part. If you are fat it's your own damn fault! 99.9% of people are fat because they take in more calories than their bodies need. Losing weight is simple, stop stuffing your face and get off your lazy a** and exercise. If my wife gained weight you better be damn sure I'd let her know about because weight gain is preventable and not just something that "happens."

Do any of you here realise that a lot of women use the kids as weapons against the father that is now the ex husband?
False accusations of sex abuse are rampant these days. No need to prove it just say it. My youngest daughter works in Social Services and she told me that about 90% of the cases of sex abuse charges made by ex wives are false. i know a woman that has 3 kids and her ex husband pays $900.00 child support almost 1/2 his wages and she sends the kids off to grandpa and grandma for the entire summer and they support the kids but she still gets the support money and does not spend one dime on her kids.
Women that collect child support should have to account for the money that they get. judges should not allow the women that has custody move so far away that the father cannot see the kids but still has to pay. Judges do not think right, 1/2 the finincial support should be on the custodial parent, courts need to get tougher on deadbeat dads and by that I mean if they take off to avoid paying extradite them back and charge them, put them on probation and if they have the ability to pay and dont put some heavy sanctions on them.
I hope that no one starts a thread on alomony I will probably go nuts in that one.
I have raised 5 kids, three my own and 2 that we took in and have been married 43 years, dont see many marriages lasting that long any more.

For my daughter with my ex-wife, I pay $450 per month. It's not chump change but it's not terrible either, that's only about 20% of my monthly net income. And I'm more than happy to, I love my daughter more than words can say.

I have another kid from a brief girlfriend that I suppose is around 1 year old or so. I haven't paid a dime for him yet and I'd be happy if I never did. I begged her to get an abortion and when she refused I begged for her to put him up for adoption. Neither of us needed that kid. But she insisted on keeping him. Dumb bitch. I better never get a bill from the county.

If I ever had a kid, I'm willing to pay any amount as long as his mine and the money I'm paying goes directly to him.

You love your daughter more than words can say but you're content with the fact that you have nothing to do with your son? Because your ex refused to abort/give him up? And if your son looks you up later in life and asks you "Dad, why did you choose not to be a part of my life?" what will you say? "Because your mom is a bitch. She knew I didn't want you yet she refused to abort you. Out of spite I chose not to be part of your life."

None...but I'll tellyou this: If I had the chance to make babies with one woman I have my eyes set on, I'd pay any and all child support required for as long as needed. :D

In my line of work, I deal with deadbeats ALL DAY...I'd say 20-30% of the fathers are really trying to be responsible, but have some sort of a hardship that doesn't allow them to pay anything

Yeah but good luck trying, the court could care less where the money goes. There should be a cap on the support of a child because you can't tell me it costs $4,500 to raise a child per month. I'm paying $600 which is supposed to be half his support. I don't think it costs $1,200 per month to raise a kid. Don't get me wrong, I love my son and see him whenever I can but this $600 is eating me alive! I can't get approved for a house because of this.

They call gay male partners "wives" now? Weird. How did you decide who was the "husband"?

Why not pull a Millennium and run them over with your car?

I feel your pain.. Some parents actually plan on having kids and some just pop
them out and don't care about taking care of them and raising them the right
way.

It's only going to get worse buddy. My advice is to stay single. I've done
seen my father go through 3 different marriages. His first wife passed
away suddenly then the last two ended in divorce.

I'm convinced marriage isn't what it used to be. Like what 70% of marriages
end in divorce nowadays? It isn't worth it IMHO.

With some of the comments I have seen, it is no wonder many guys on here can't even get a date..sheesh. Let's all hope they never marry and certainly never father children!

As for all the comments about dumping a wife who gains weight, let's see how you look after bearing children! Not everyone is the same and if you can't look past the physical you are going to have a long, sad, and lonely life. What if your wife lost an arm or a leg? What if you did? What if she had to have a mastectomy? There are so many things that can change in a marriage that eventually your friendship is what is going to keep you together.

I think that so many marriages fail because we never delve into "who" they are instead of "what they look like". Of course, this eventually does catch up with us after the initial thrill has died down and everyday life takes over.

NOTE: This is not directed at the guy whose wife did gain the weight.....sounds like he has bigger issues in his marriage.

::Thinks this person missed the part where it was stated that he could look past this if she was a nice person...::

Well I have custody of my three grandkids and recently was putting together a budget (their parents won't help a bit). They've been with me three years now. The result of the effort was: actual expense budgeted at $1800 per month. Since I own my home I'd have to figure the FMV divide by members etc. that would be about another $1800 then there is the elec and other household bills of about 600$ so thats about $4200 a month.
Now then when you pay child support don't forget I or your I in this case also have to drive here there everywhere and can't go or do anything to get away for awhile alone etc. etc. etc.. My time is valuable too. Real Valuable!

While your out having fun and starting new families and all remember what it takes to raise kids beyond the money.

edit I forgot the schooling cost... college highschool and jr high... wonder what that costs me...
