Is it for the middle of a vinyl record so that it stays center when it spins? That would be my guess...
Hehhehe, used them all the time. I liked the the on spindle 45 changer adapter better. If you stacked these on a changer they would often pop out.

What is the point of these? Didn't record players come with an adapter for 45s? I know ours did.
Manual turntables did not. These clipped in your records and could stay in there when sleeved, etc.
How many remember THESE THINGS and what they were used for?
So the real question here is why? Why did 45s have a bigger hole than 33s and 78s?
Heh, I sure do - had LOTS of 'em when I was a kid in the late mid-late 70s and early 80s.
