Voted 40-45 as that is the norm, but the week before my vacation (2 weeks ago) I had to put in 63 hours in one week to make up for the time I was going to be gone. An exception to the rule no doubt.

usually upper 50's to lower 60's but it varies. It's been as high as 80's here recently.

averaged out over one whole calendar year, it is about 50, maybe 48-49

i peak at ~80 for 3-6 weeks each year, with about 2-4 weeks of ~60 hour on each side of that

then the rest of teh yeear 40-45 is normal

i get paid in celery, so "overtime" is built into the pay/annual bonus

About 42. Unfortunately I spend the vast majority of that time doing absolutely nothing. It's really, really boring.

In the time that I was supposed to be at work today but wasn't, I probably made more than you make in a week. How does that make you feel? :)

We work a 9/80 schedule now, so week 1 is 36 hours, and week 2 is 44 hours. I get every other Friday "off". And I put "off" in quotes because I'm not really getting a day off, I'm just working more hours over 9 days. It's good I guess, except that I don't feel that 1 extra hour over 8 days equates one full day of 8 hours of work in terms of being as productive.

Oh, and I'm exempt (salaried), so no overtime, and I don't work for free. So I'll say 80 hours in 2 weeks :)

Uh I work 8-5 minimum. 1 hr break. But I usually push it to 5:30 or so... sometimes closer to 6 if I come in a little late. So I'd say I'm closer to 45 hours than I am to 40.

~50 hrs. a week.
I'm salaried, so I tend to take several rest breaks during the day, so I'm sure I get a full 40 hrs. each week.
I'm in before 6:00 AM, and never leave before 4:30, though I have been known to work 16+ hrs some days.
In the past 8 years, I've been known to pull a few all-nighters.

I probably wouldn't, at least not at this point. If I had kids and my wife wasn't working, I might consider it (houses are expensive here :|). I'm doing contract work on the side for about 60 hours a month now, and I'm wishing I had more free time.

That's funny because I said exactly the opposite thing, I would take a (very well-compensating) job requiring long hours now because I don't have kids/family to use as a springboard into a better position later in life. That's pretty much what I'm doing with the consulting stuff I'm doing now, granted I don't really work that much but I'm away from home during the week so the point is still the same. Whenever God curses me with children I would prefer to be able to spend time with them instead of working until all hours of the night.

Move to DE...housing market is much cheaper and you would probably make around the same, maybe slightly less.

The fact is that most higher paying jobs are salary.

I could take an hourly job and work only 40. I try very hard to ensure that the guys that work for me work only 40 as one of the things I am graded on is overtime (costs)

Now having said that, most people work one job and try hard so they can move up or get a better job. this is a simple case of that for me. I put oin the hours and travel so that in a few years I will be making even more.

I work between 34 to 40 hrs. I get paid for 40 hrs regardless and I never work any overtime.

I have to say, I'm somewhat envious on one hand of some of these office workers that do like maybe 10 hours of work a week, compared to me I just worked 8 hours of overtime in the ER, and busted my ass from start to finish. Hell i had 2 patients in my area of the ER in critical condition my whole shift, one of them was wired to experimental medical equipment as part of research which had to be checked on every 5-10 minutes....not to mention her blood pressure hovering around 80/40 the whole time... I ALWAYS work start to finish and barely have time to even pee most days.

But on the other hand I'm NOT envious because I get to wear scrubs which are insanely comfortable, secondly I'd shoot myself if I was sitting there all day like that.

But then again I will at least somewhat bitch about wages that nurses get.

a better question would be... "how many hours of real work do you put in each week?"
