I thought that whole presskit thing was weird when I went to tour Embry-Riddle. I still think it's weird.

It's similar to Nevada-Reno. The football stadium and School of Mines are both "Mackay", pronounced "mac-eeee". I'm sorry but "Mackay" is "mac-aaaa".

ok i dont want to be disrespectful to all who think they know everything but just as in other countries and other areas of the states there are different pronunciations of words that are almost identical......the name Prescott is not pronounced the way you would think it is pronounced and it isnt due to dumb or uneducated individuals it is pronounced the way the gentleman's name was pronounced that they named the town after and it is pronounced
pres-kət and if you would care to question it you can simply go to this link and read about it.......sorry to deflate any bubbles anyone may have had...

I've always thought there were two proper ways to say, "Prescott.

Press-cawt and press-kit.
Many folks who have Prescott in their name, prefer Press-kawt, although the small town in Arizona is Press-kit, and lots of people I've known used Press-kit as well.

Ah son-of-a-bitch...fucking necro-thread...

Prescott Pharmaceuticals' latest product: Pres-kitrine.

Side effects may include:
Cryptic colon, snickerdickles, and autoerotic dyslexia.

Edit: Wow, just 2 minutes later, and this thread has been cached by Google. And it's also Google's only match for "autoerotic dyslexia". (When used with quotes.)

Prescott, LIKE BISCUIT, as the locals say. But they say it wrong. That shit is Press-kot.

Edit:
Obligatory snorgle.

Edit2: Dammit, I normally don't fall for necros. Snorgle still stands.

I lived in Prescott, AZ for a couple of years. They say it like "Pres-cuit" the "cuit" pronounced like the the "cuit" in "circuit".

that whole area pronouonces it like that. they also correct me when i say it as prescott. kind of funny to me. my gramma even says it as preskitt, and she lived in payson for 30ish years.

I searched on here to see if anyone had the full and correct story that a Prescott resident told me about 30 years ago. I had forgotten the exact details. But I remember her telling me that when the town was in the early stages of development in the late 1800's (Gold Rush Days), there was a Politician in Washington named Prescott and they hated him and didn't want to be associated with him, so they started pronouncing it with an "it" at the end, Pres-skit to differentiate from him. My friend was very knowledgeable of the history of the town.
