If you doubt that we're digressing consider these facts:

Since 1960 there has been a 560 percent increase in violent crime. {1}

Its simple, we took God out of everything. This country was based on the Bible, It thrived, now that we have taken God out, look at this country now.

EDIT: This country was never "based on the Bible", Paine and Hume (on whose philosophies this Republic was based) were both noted atheists/agnostics. The fact that there is a correlation between some Biblical values and traditional American values does not imply causation. Any rational being will see that the so-called "Biblical values" are prudent regardless of a belief in the Christian God or in Christ. A Buddhist or a Hindu would also embrace "Biblical values" even though he would not recognise such values as being Biblical. A virtuous ethical system may be arrived at independantly of a system of faith.

More people are taking them. It used to be only the best and the brightest that went to college, now everybody takes them.

Easy....the influence of the "Flower Power" generation and the growth of social welfare programs. Wasn't LBJ's "Great Society" program supposed to cure all our social ills? Yeah....that worked.

You can't take God out of anything. God is everywhere, every thing, so I don't know where you got that idea. Our country is NOT based on the Bible, I don't know where you got that idea. It's based on the Constitution if it's based on anything.
 
It's simple. There are more things to do (clubs, parties, raves, drug, alcohol, unprotected sex, ..etc etc) than 40 years ago. All these are accounted for the decline of American society. Also the national population increased.
