How do I get my teenage son to shave?

Hate to tell you this, but facial hair rocks.

I had a moustache throughout high school and have a goatee now. I just look naked without it.

Stop being a wuss and punish him if he doesn't shave. If he doesn't like it, inform him of the freedoms one is allowed when one doesn't rely on others to put a roof over their head. Wuss parents are becoming a huge problem in modern society, almost as much as negligent ones :|

Just old 😉

When I was a young lady, my mom, rest her soul, had a problem with my hair. She made me have it cut the way she wanted it, when she wanted it done, and I hated that, but I went along with it. Then I'd shave it from underneath where she couldn't tell.

The main thing though, make sure he is washing it, nothing grosser than dirty hair:disgust:

Yes, that's not a subjective thing at all. Unwashed beards get nasty, really nasty.

why should he shave?

Because the person(s) providing for him want him to.

why do they want him to shave?

They don't. In Badmouse's second post to this thread she said:
The whole reason I'm asking this question here is that I personally don't care whether he has a beard or not, and I want to see if I need to expend my leet parenting skills on this matter, or if I can let it slide - looking for other people's opinions.

The people of this country are way too obsessed with looks and 'fitting in'. What's the big deal if he wants a beard? Thousands of parents out there letting their kids go off and get pregnant, do drugs, and hurt people and here is a thread having a problem with a teenager growing a beard? Get real.

It's his face, for christ's sake. Trying to control a man's own face and hair is not only degrading, it can introduce an element of resentment to a parent-child relationship.

I wouldn't go out with a guy that looks like that. To me it shows lack of responsibility and personal grooming. Also, if he doesn't care about himself more than that, what good would he be in a relationship? Just my two cents, I'm a teenager.

This coming from the girl who doesn't want her boyfriend to get a job?????

Mnementh

She WHAT?! What kind of dumb *beep* doesnt want her b/f to get a job?! Jesus, nothing like sucking the tit of your parents till your 35
