I never finished that game I should go fire it up and kill some police.

I think the game would have been laggy if they put in as much cocaine as he snorted in the move, lol.

Scarface was only ok, mostly because of the crappy vehicle control. But the missions weren't very interesting either. A decent game, but owns GTA? no.

OP wouldn't like it anyway, lots of bad words ;)

Worse game in the genre is "25 to Life". I think the programmers, developers and anyone involved in that game should get 25 to life. :)

Was it as bad as True Crime NYC? That crap lasted about 20 minutes on my pc.

IMO it was worse than TC:NYC

As bad as Just Cause then? Again the control scheme ruined what otherwise was a fairly fun game. Plus it took forever to get around. Played for a few hours before scratching. All these GTA clones generally fall short. I hear that XBOX one was good though...forget what it was called. Crackdown maybe? Saint's Row?

I think there is a difference between cursing and senseless cursing. Cursing is good for showing rage, frustration, and anger. San Andreas was not only senseless, but was boring.

Exactly. The overuse of swearing today is what is so annoying. People use it to sound "cool" or whatever. I see people that swear constantly as immature and stupid. They need to figure out some other adjectives to use. And I think swearing can be used effectively for certain game/movie situations and even real life, but I get really turned off when there is just a constant barrage of it.

GTA does it in a very humorous way though. It's supposed to be over used. It isn't meant to be taken seriously. That's part if its charm.

My eyes! It burns!

:)

Poor guy.. only has one eye. :(

I grabbed GTA:SA off Steam a few months ago only because I was browsing through the mods for the game and thought they'd enhance the filthy GTA game play.

They did, got dozens of American muscle cars and such game is enjoyable.. but I feel like a scumbag whenever I play GTA.. like I have to go wash my hands or take a shower. The game's filth.. hip hop, gangsta, drugs, sex, and violence culture can go to hell.

Then I picked up Mafia a few weeks ago.. My lord that game is so much better..

When are you less senseless than when you are frustrated, angry or enraged? I think the problem is that swear words show emotion too well. There's no doubt about someone's state of mind when they are cursing; there is an extreme emotion attached to that thought. For example:

"I am incredibly pissed right now." Very harsh sentiment, it is understood that the person is angry.

"I am fucking pissed right now." Harsher sentiment. There is no topping this.

There is no adverb in the English language as powerful as "fucking." "You're so fucking funny," "I fucking hate carrots," "This guy is fucking retarded," etc. It's an extremely powerful word and it conveys emotion so quickly and so easily that you can simply read the sentence and know exactly what someone is feeling. You don't get that sense of emotion as easily with other words. And that frightens us. We don't want speech to be emotional. We don't want that level of extreme seeping into our conversation; it is difficult to handle that level of emotional intensity. So we make the words "inappropriate" and act as though they are somehow naughtier than any other word. It's preposterous. Actually, I take that back; it is fucking preposterous. See what I did there? Now guess how I feel about it.

You know what word I find offensive? Community. I think it's a bad word. I'm supposed to come together with a bunch of other people with common goals and work to build them? What if I don't want to? The word suggests an idea that is offensive to misanthropes. Plus it's just a harsh word... it has that hard KUH sound at the beginning, very aggressive. It tries to trick you in the middle, oh, MYEU, it's like a cat! But then it hits again with NITTY. Rhymes with shitty. And titty. Those are both bad words! Community is an awful, awful word, and we must strike it from our common vernacular.

Let's replace it with clusterfuck.

On a side note:

The problem is that having to use cursing to express emotions indicates a poor command of the language.

And cleaning up such posts wastes time and can affects people's post per day percentage.

"pardon me, reginald, but i would like to take a moment to indicate that i am most heinously displeased"
"displeasure acknowledged, bernard"
"carry on, then"

i haven't played GTA3, but i've played through vice city and san andreas on the pc.
i liked vice city the most because i think it had far better music. the music in san andreas isn't quite as good but san andreas does have the jetpack and the map is huge in comparison. it's not a bad game once you make it through the first few missions which are loaded with profanity and and some pretty major stereotyping.

By the way I bought a copy of GTA:SA yesterday, and I've been playing it.

I agree, I'd personally like to have a better command of the language myself, I don't have a huge problem with curse words, but I certainly agree.

So far you hit the nail on the head, as far as what I don't like about it so far. It is stereotyping, but the game play seems ok so far, I just hope that they make GTA 4 more PC focused, and not just a console port. Because I think the actual shooting in this game is quite poor when you have to shoot multiple people.

ummm... whats wrong with rough language... hellooooo grand THEFT auto... ?
Ya know, the whole series of GTA 3 seems less criminal than GTA 2 and 1. I don't know, saving prostitutes, cleaning up the neighborhood because of the crack epidemic?

I remember GTA 2, you'd just commit crimes, there was no point in helping anyone, no ambulance missions etc.

i remember once that i thought it would be cool to play a game in which you could drive around but had to obey traffic laws... then i played mafia. damn speed limits! :)

as far as san andreas... just in case you try to do it, i'm going to attempt to save you some time. there is a point in the game where you need to take over some turf. although you can take over as many as you feel like, don't bother because you will lose them all again anyway due to the storyline. just make sure you have and protect enough to keep the game going.

:cookie: Thank you! Taking over turf is a PAIN! I'm so glad you warned me.
So far I'm having trouble adjusting to the game, because it's so easy to get killed in a gunfight, I'm still trying to figure out where the good guns are.

Regarding Mafia, Speed limits are fun! Sometimes I speed past them until I see a cop, but during most of the missions I could tolerate the speed limits because I enjoyed the music very very much.

In fact It was easy for me to absorb the atmosphere of the whole game.
I've played through the whole game twice and have replayed the missions a few times, I haven't played it in a few months but when I was playing it frequently I was very good at it, on some of the missions I could get away with just killing everyone rather than running.

There are some easier ways to doing it.

Grenades for one. Load up on them. You can take out a whole group of gang members with one grenade. Assault rifle obviously, and even a sniper rifle can help with that one gang member who seems to want to run away.

When the gang members appear on the radar, try to get to a location where you won't be getting hit from two locations. You only want to take on one group at a time.

If you can get yourself a tank, it makes taking over neighborhoods very easy. Get out, start a gang war, then get back in and use the cannon to take out groups of members.

Yes, and you can turn on the limiter making it impossible to speed.

i would occasionally do that, but most of the cars were painfully slow even without it! :)

Not as you got further into the games, and with a big garage it was easy and very cool to pick out your favorite car for a mission, or pick out the one best suited for the mission.

The cars in Mafia II should be much better as the game is set in the late 50's, IIRC.
