And who’d be responsible for that?
As I said earlier I’ll take momentary intense pain over ongoing slow pain nearly any day.
Also Bring On the Treasury Coin and end this madness
This was basically a vote for a market crash. Republicans kicked it off and was assisted by Democrats. Whoever is responsible deserves an award, so I guess everyone gets a participation award. I want a market crash. Burn, baby, burn.

That's the most likely path forward I see. But I'm not familiar with congressional republicans.

Second most likely seems like re-electing McCarthy.
Come on, Jeffries being elected Speaker is too perfect of a solution. Although not impossible, it's not going to happen. A GOP vote for Jeffries is basically a resignation from office. The very few moderates like Adam Kinzinger who'd consider such a vote have left the clown show already. I guess there are a few new reps from New York that might be flexible.

Why can't you blame the people deserving of the blame instead of trying to shift the blame to the Democratic Party? It's plainly obvious to anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together that the Republican majority is completely dysfunctional, and the trouble that they are causing is from their own doings.

You still believe that the stock market has even a thread of correlation to the economy?

We're still assessing the health of the economy by measuring how much unrenewable resources have been burned and turned into poison so that some millionaires and billionaires can add a digital zero to the end of their bank accounts.

Shifting is taking from one thing and placing / moving / reallocating it to another thing. I didn't shift blame. Everyone is to blame. And honestly, I don't really give two shits -- not even one shit, I just want the market to crash.

Unfortunately nickqt is pretty much correct, but one can hope!

Democrats: elect a speaker in a normal fashion, complete appropriations bills on time, pass landmark legislation as well as taking care of the routine business of the House with a few vote margin

Republicans: poop their pants and smear it on the walls while screaming incoherently

These two groups are really both to blame really that things aren't going well.

"Everyone is to blame" is an intellectually lazy cop-out.

And why would you want the market to crash? Are you upset that unemployment is too low and that the poorer members of society have been doing substantially better wage-wise as a result? Want to bring back more of an underclass that has to beg for work?

The MAGA shitheads need to learn our entire system is built upon agreements & compromise. They have proven themselves to be untrustworthy keeping agreements and unwilling to compromise.
This lesson must be learned by them.
Again sure it will hurt and I am confident it will hurt less than another decade of the shitheads intentionally or worse unknowingly fucking everything up.

McCarthy announces he won't run again for speaker.

If Republicans want to continue their circus, they should nominate him anyway and elect him again for laughs.
I can see gaetz nominating McCarthy just to have him kicked out again.

If nominated, can McCarthy vote against himself? :p

He can and has said “No” I do not want the Speakership.
Maybe they’ll get so desperate for a Speaker McCarthy will take it again with fewer MAGA restrictions in place if he’s smart.

It's possible Pelosi made such a personal commitment though I doubt it would have held since he didn't hold up any of his deals with them. He could have gotten some Dem support if he threw them a bone or two that wouldn't annoy most of his caucus. Instead he went on TV and shit all over them.

Fucking around leads to finding out, as usual.

Gotta be honest per reading the interim speaker appears to be chosen from a “private” list the outgoing speaker makes.
Kevin should have blatantly told all the shitheads he has a poison pill for them with his list and I know the interim speaker doesn’t have much power.
I would post my list:
1) Taylor Swift
2) Snoop Dogg
3) Nancy Pelosi

What Pelosi probably said and meant, was that McCarthy would have to throw some bones to the Democratic Party to hold up the bargain. When he decided he wanted to be a huge MAGA-adjacent shithead, the Democratic Party told him where he could stick that commitment.

Also, McCarthy isn't exactly known for his, shall we say, veracity and ability to hold up bargains, so I'll take what he says with some big bucket of salt.

I didn't vote for President in 2016 but voted for Democrats for Senate and lower offices federal and local Including Kamala Harris. But I secretly hoped Trump would win so I could observe the ensuing chaos like today and see if it would spread into a world wide conflict.

So that way we could see if the Dems warning would come true that we would all die if he got elected because he would cause WW3. Getting closer to it as we speak.

I posted all this before the 2016 election so it's on record and I didn't just make up this post recently.

Oh is this why she didn’t vote? Both she and Cori Bush had their names called again at the end. Doesn’t look like either voted

Exactly, who the fuck would give a deal with no commitments and no expectations.
Basic life lesson needs to be taught to these shitheads.

Personally, I'd rather not live through times of horrible upheaval because they tend to be fairly unpleasant and people die.

You're not intellectually lazy so why are you asking me, you already know the answer -- right?

tl;dr don't associate someone with intellectually lazy only to follow up with a question. If you ask me one more question I'm sending you an invoice.

I watched the chaos live today although "dead" might have been better. Kidding. Any day that's not a dirt nap is A-OK.

So . . . how's that Hakeem Jeffries lookin'?

For democrats losing control of the house, the new Congress could not have started any better.

It's not like it's going to get better once they actually figure out a speaker, these chucklefucks will be constantly torpedoing their own party for attention, clicks and donations. It's only about the grift

I'd like to think I was keenly and uniquely omniscient on this, but it was the most obvious outcome and KMC was too stupid and clumsy to avoid it.

We'll see how diluted and desperate the next Speaker is.
