sniper bow? is that the same thing as the sharpshot bow? I did see those arrows for that...

i will say, though, that overriding the sawtooths is mighty helpful in a pinch. you gotta beat that sigma cauldron in order to "learn" it though.

i may have just had a night of really bad luck... I mean I took down one of those things with the fluid tanks on their backs and it landed right on me. I couldn't move and I had to fast travel to get unstuck lol

Bellowback...I farmed them to get a heart from them to buy the purple stealth armor.

As for arrows some bows have unique arrows. The sharp shot arrows are universal but there are arrows that are unique to the weapon. My current sharp shot bow has arrows that release a pulse blast that rips off armor. I'm not to Miridian yet which is where you can get shadow bows.

you wont get the hard point arrows until you get one of the "shadow hunter" bows from a vendor, there are 2, the sniper bow and the standard one. the merchants should have them once you get a little into the game, the first sniper bow has them on it as well which you get right after the proving IIRC
Ok maybe that's why since I bought a carja war bow instead. I'll have to take a look after completing into the border main quest mission.

I do wish that creating a job for an item you need to craft or weapon parts needed to buy the weapon would highlight a perimeter of where those resources are located.
Although once you scan the environment via the tallhead machine it does list machine sites if you run into them.

I did notice that when I fought the first Stalker I ran into that it seemed the cover mechanic was hit or miss... like it could be scanning showing the yellow (?) and then all of a sudden just get a solid fix on me, even if I was crouched and remaining hidden the whole time.

I'm kind of picking it apart a bit here but I am definitely enjoying it overall; I will certainly get plenty of hours in when I can.

There are a cpl mobs that will find you even in cover. Saw that in a tooltip

I think even if you are crouched in tall grass and you fire at a machine, once it turns from blue to red it will find you even if you stay crouched. I remember this happening twice to me.

Agree with the camera not being able to focus on one enemy. I had a very hard time being low level and defeating the boss in sigma cauldron because of that.

Some enemies have scanners and radar. You can rip them off and disable them. Scrappers have that.

Maybe it's me but I found the thunder jaws to be too simple to kill.

I could only play for an hour or so last night, but now that I have the shadow bow or whatever it is I can take stuff down much more easily with some well-placed shots from cover.

I'm only about 5 hours into the game...I just finished the mission where you ambush the people who attacked the proving in their open pit mine.

I think I was given the opportunity to go in stealthy. I shot a guy in the head with my standard bow and it only took about a quarter of his health off. I expected it to be a one shot kill..so my stealth was blown.

I can usually get head shots with the standard bow but that's after I've upgraded some of my skills to do more damage. I finished the into the borderlands quest so tonite if I have time I also have to go gather resources for a shadow bow. I alternate between my hunter bow and the carja war bow a lot. I feel like the fire arrows come in very useful.

The shadow hunter bow with hardpoint arrows and a couple legendary tear damage upgrades and a legendary impact damage upgrade absolutely destroys armor. I have more tear damage on my hunter bow than with the shadow sharp shot bow with tear blast arrows. That's because I focused on raw impact damage and handling for the sharp shot bow.

I just got to miridian last night and I am way over leveled. I think I am around lv26 now and have both shadow bows, a shadow tripcaster, and shadow rope caster. I also have the legendary Nora stealth armor with a +22 stealth upgrade on it. In camps I can stand next to a guy sometimes and not get noticed. I also bought the golden fast travel pack for unlimited fast travel. That helps for quests that ask you to run all the way back to the starting area of the map.

With all this I find some machines to be too easy while others are cheap. Some of them attack twice or in a wide arc so you cannot roll to the side, gotta roll back away like the crocodile one. The thunder jaw was a joke when I ripped off its disc launcher and used it against him down to a sliver of health and then just shot him once.

Do note that some enemies have armor and if you don't hit a soft spot you won't get a 1hko.

i seriously need that disarm traps skill because so many of my clever schemes have been absolutely foiled, therefore I waste the ammo

That lets you reset your wire traps right? I missed that one somehow. I find the shock wire hard to lay down if you are being constantly charged at by a huge machine.

The game reminds me a lot of Shadow of Mordor, but the systems are a little deeper. I need to spend some more time and look into upgrades. I didn't even know I had upgrade slots on my bow until a popup told me my bag was too full and I should upgrade my weapons. I just need to go through the menus and look at upgrades.

i pretty much just sell off all of the common upgrades that do little, just keeping most rare and all very rare ones

oh, and if you need a certain resource to acquire a weapon you can always buy it back. i did that with the sawtooth heart i accidentally sold at some point

I used to sell everything too until I realized that I needed some parts to buy weapons. Now I make a note of something I need for a particular item. I have so many shards this way but they are also useless without resources.

Track movement and place it in their path. That's the best way. I also use the explosive wire or freeze wire depending on weakness. I like to start the fight off this way if I can.

I have almost 20k shards at this point. What I usually do is keep 1 of each resource that is needed for trading or crafting and sell the duplicates off.

I wanted to point out one major PRO to the game. The location you respawn at after a death. You don't get sent back to the last save point or a camp. You respawn to a location very local to where you died so you can easily retry the fight that likely killed you. And load times in this case are pretty good.

The only slower load times are when you fast travel. And even those times are not horrible.

I noticed this too and prefer it a lot compared to other games. Even if you don't happen to be by a campfire. It certainly helps out a lot.

the only load time that kind of drags is after the menu screen when you first start the game, which is understandable. after that the game loads very quickly, like after a death as previously mentioned. i don't have a SSHD in my PS4 either...

I like that there isn't any loading in the world if you run from place to place. Even entering cities, cauldrons and the like. Other games could learn something from that. Granted the cities aren't as vast as say Witcher 3 Novigrad.
