Anyone else having their PS4 discs flopping around in the box?

I was reorganizing my game bookshelf a few nights ago, and I noticed that one of my unopened PS4 games was rattling around in the case. I wouldn't be surprised if the center holding mechanism wasn't as sturdy as it was in the past. Although, I'm really not worried about it. Blu-ray discs are far, far less prone to scratching compared to DVDs/CDs. So, if it was Wii U or Xbox 360, I would be worried.

On another note...I order pretty much all of my games from Amazon. The majority of my PS4 games have been coming in with the disc flopping around in the box. I've ordered 30+ PS3 games and none of them came flopping around in the box. I've ordered 20+ PS4 games and I would say most of those came flopping around in the box, and most of the ones that didn't were in steel cases or some sort of special packaging (Rise of the Tomb Raider 20 Year Celebration). My guess is that the PS4 boxes are using less plastic, like flimsy water bottles. Anyone else having their PS4 discs flopping around in the box?

I have noticed this a couple times. I also think the plastic they use is a bit more flexible/softer than generations previous. So the retention with the discs isn't great, but the plastic is also so soft it shouldn't scratch the disc.

Yeah I think they are like the new eco cases that some movie studios have been using. Less plastic using recycled materials etc. they do feel much cheaper.

Mine comes in tomorrow from Amazon. Hopefully the disc will not be broken. I'm not going back to work until Monday so I'll have time to play it.

Envy you. Got it yesterday and have had about 1 hour of time to play it so far and it's not looking good until this weekend. Of course Zelda will be here by then so hopefully my game ADD doesn't get the best of me.

Well last time I ordered something from Amazon with prime they didn't deliver it because the guy couldn't figure out which building or how to get in. My phone was on vibrate so when they called I missed the call but he eventually came back at night to deliver again.

Game is picking up nice, with plenty of stuff to do, once you get through the tutorial-y stuff including that Proving thing.

I won't spoil anything but while playing last night I got a real Fallout vibe from both the story and some of the ruins. Good stuff.

I'm playing it now, still doing the tutorial. It's decent so far but I'm not too sure about the fall out vibe yet. We will see how it turns out.

Well here I go again doing tons of side quests lol. These type of games make me do this all the time. I'm enjoying it quite a lot.

The saturation of side quests in games typically turns me off since most are so shallow and pointless filler material... but I'm going to give it a chance because robots.

Yea I feel the same way but maybe these will prove to be a bit better. I didn't mind side quests in Witcher 3 at all.

the side quests that i had done dont see as BS as in some other games. most have some story to them and seem to be filling out some of the background story nicely so far. but im only 11 hours in

I'm not quite that far into it yet, only completing several quests but I suppose limited play time factors in to why I don't like carrying out mundane tasks... those "travel across the map to retrieve item x" quests are brutal.

a few of those are okay if it's really worth it (a rarer occurrence) but I agree... so many games clearly have them just to add busy work for the player.

Yea but I think later you can ride those striders or whatever they are called. Walking and running everywhere is quite annoying. I sure hope that the items we get from those quests are worth it too.

Yea fast travel within the map costs me a travel pack so I haven't used it yet.

If they are side quests like the witcher 3 where they have good stories behind them or some humor to them I really like doing them and exploring for them. My biggest complaint is that sometimes you will pick up a quest and it requires you to go somewhere you haven't been yet or be stronger than you are currently and I put it off. Then I forget I had the quest and don't do whatever I was supposed to when I am at the correct area. I remember in the witcher I ended up with a whole list of quests I needed to complete and had to run all over the place to do them.

Same concern I have here. At least these also have the levels you should be next to them. Do you know how to make the striders run or walk faster. I took control of one but I have no idea why it was walking at a snail's pace.

Edit: well what I was afraid of happening has happened. Took a level 8 quest to go explore the sigma cauldron. Made it to the center and there is a level 18 machine down there. I'm level 12 and can't kill it. Tried various times and I keep getting killed. No way to get out of there either so I'm completely stuck.

As I keep playing, I'm finding a couple gripes that keep it from being a truly phenomenal game.

I've noticed some hitches in the framerate in the cutscenes. It isn't for long, and I'm sure the PS4 pro handles it better, but it's not nearly as smooth as some of the reviews claimed it is. Gameplay is relatively problem free, but the early part of the game is so cutscene heavy that it gets noticeable.

Along with that is at times I've noticed the audio a little out of sync with the animations. The facial animations also seem to be inconsistent. One moment I almost feel like I'm watching a movie it looks so real, then the next sentence I feel like I'm watching a foreign movie with overdubbed english... as the mouth movement didn't work at all. Seems like they just ran out of time and couldn't nail down the animation for all of the conversations. It's a little thing but it's been happening more often lately.

Clipping issues with hair and fabric aren't uncommon in other games, but it's also been done better in the past.

There was a moment I was taunting a watcher in the tall grass, and then realized there was a pair of villagers that I had helped that was in the way. I was worried he was going to attack them and I was gearing up to rush in and save them, but they were merely ignored. I don't remember anything in the game saying why they'd only be aggressive towards me, so it seems like a big miss to have NPCs in the world and not have them even register to the enemy.

My health pack meter is all sorts of screwed up. It'll read almost full when I know I just used it, but then when I collect some plants it'll reset back to being empty and it'll start filling up again. It's happening consistently enough that I can't really trust it, and they only way I KNOW it's full is when the icon for the plants in the world pops up red instead of white letting me know I can't hold any more.

These are all little gripes, and I'm still enjoying the game, but the early impressions have worn off and now some technical issues are starting to show. Some of it could be patched later but I'm starting to get a rushed vibe in some cases. At least I haven't run into any major bugs.

I finally beat the sigma cauldron. I was level 12 and barely had any weapons or ammo. Good thing to do is use the trip wire before you deactivate the electrical shield.

He's much easier if you have the electric slingshot. Finally purchased that once I finished.

I find the game kind of slow in terms of story or for example side quests. There is a lot of dialogue and I feel the acting could have been better.

I'm also not sure if you can get better arrows. I ended up with the carja bow which is nice because it has impact explosive arrows. I also noticed previously when I had began the game that my herbs container would deplete each time I quick saved. But later it stopped doing that.

I keep trying to do side quests but sometimes the level is inconsistent as enemies don't scale to your level. So you could be level 13 and take a level 10 quest but end up having to fight a robot that's level 18 or so like I did in the sigma cauldron.

Overall it's a good game and it's enjoyable with all the things to do. But I have a feeling it could have easily been better with the acting and maybe more faster paced quests/missions.

I didn't notice any tearing or issues with cutscenes but I'm playing on a ps4 pro with a 55inch 4k HDR TV.
