As I keep playing, I'm finding a couple gripes that keep it from being a truly phenomenal game.
I've noticed some hitches in the framerate in the cutscenes. It isn't for long, and I'm sure the PS4 pro handles it better, but it's not nearly as smooth as some of the reviews claimed it is. Gameplay is relatively problem free, but the early part of the game is so cutscene heavy that it gets noticeable.
Along with that is at times I've noticed the audio a little out of sync with the animations. The facial animations also seem to be inconsistent. One moment I almost feel like I'm watching a movie it looks so real, then the next sentence I feel like I'm watching a foreign movie with overdubbed english... as the mouth movement didn't work at all. Seems like they just ran out of time and couldn't nail down the animation for all of the conversations. It's a little thing but it's been happening more often lately.
Clipping issues with hair and fabric aren't uncommon in other games, but it's also been done better in the past.
There was a moment I was taunting a watcher in the tall grass, and then realized there was a pair of villagers that I had helped that was in the way. I was worried he was going to attack them and I was gearing up to rush in and save them, but they were merely ignored. I don't remember anything in the game saying why they'd only be aggressive towards me, so it seems like a big miss to have NPCs in the world and not have them even register to the enemy.
My health pack meter is all sorts of screwed up. It'll read almost full when I know I just used it, but then when I collect some plants it'll reset back to being empty and it'll start filling up again. It's happening consistently enough that I can't really trust it, and they only way I KNOW it's full is when the icon for the plants in the world pops up red instead of white letting me know I can't hold any more.
These are all little gripes, and I'm still enjoying the game, but the early impressions have worn off and now some technical issues are starting to show. Some of it could be patched later but I'm starting to get a rushed vibe in some cases. At least I haven't run into any major bugs.
