Your use of a demeaning/generalizing term to describe him makes you no different.

I know you'll be corrected to include 'homophobic' or some such but I really think regardless of the bias one holds they also hold a vote. It may be their philosophy is totally opposite of mine but it seems to me that you, me and all the folks who vote are citizens voting their conscience, however bigoted or unreasonably biased I or anyone feels they are.

There are many differences, not that one can expect a pea-brained bigot like yourself to acknowledge them.

The posting history where he said he has no problem with gay marriage?

We just recently had an elite member vacationed for far less than this.

As to the content of this thread, everyone should be able to run for elected office. It's up to the people to choose who they want. If any of you don't approve of this such person, just chalk it up to "the system worked", and move on.

You are assuming still. I never suggested he has any problem with gay marriage, and never intended to imply anything of the sort.

Well the OP is mostly about gay marriage opponents, so forgive my misinterpreting your implication. When you call someone a bigot without substantiation except for a general reference to their history it begs interpreation. Please elaborate.

A sad testament of just how things work here at ATPN.

People are so used to pigeonholeing others on the issues, he figured he could take a shot in the dark and nail me on gay marriage as well. He probably saw a post of mine that was anti social-medicine, so automatically:

I'm a Jesus freak
Racist
Anti-abortion
Anti gay rights
I watch Fox News
Listen to Rush
Disagree with everything Obama does

Etc, etc.....

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to practicing my banjo.

Rather. I've seen post of yours making bigoted assumptions, like this recent example:

If there wasn't a huge number of religious wackos in America, Israel would have been wiped off the planet a while ago. One of the biggest reasons why America stands up for Israel is because a huge portion of the electorate believe that Israel's existence is necessary before Jesus comes back.

How is that worse than your Islamic views? You are just as much or more whacko than any Xtian fundie.

Granted, as you buggered off after presenting your argument, I'm guessing you don't care to discuss it, but of course that thread is still open to do so if you like.

My point here was simply there is nothing inherently bigoted about referring to someone from the backwoods as a "hillbilly", just as there is nothing inherently bigoted about referring to someone who prefers the same sex as "gay". On the other hand, it is bigoted to say "hillbillies are homophobes", much like it is bigoted to say "gays are pedophiles", as such comments conflate individuals into collectives, stereotyping many into groups which don't rightly apply to them. While some obviously prefer to ignore such distinctions, they exist regardless.

I'm not sure what your point is. The word bigot exists for a good reason, to describe the people who are bigots.

No, "Hillbilly," "Redneck," "White Trash," "hick" etc are not off limits nor frowned upon by society like their cousins for generalizing other races, but someday that is the way it will be.

Did throwing that in there add anything to this thread? Or was it just so we picture the caricature toothless white uneducated moonshine drinking "Yokel?"

I get it. Because I didnt come out in my first post and attack the moron who was against gay marriage, I myself was against gay marriage by default.

I tried to ignore your initial out of line personal attack. However, after finding out that I indeed do support equal rights for gays, both in marriage and beyond, you probably should have stopped.

As I noted previously, I didn't expect you to understand. The final paragraph of my previous was simply to clarify my position to others who expressed confusion.

No word is off limits, but many are rightly frowned upon in when used in various contexts.

It adds context, much like "homophobe evangelical" or "homophobe jock" would if either of those were the case at hand.

Look, son, you're barking up the wrong tree here, i think you know it and you are trying to make up for it by playing the ignorant idiot who doesn't get it.

OCGuy is a good guy and your excuses for your attacks on him are wearing fucking thin.

So, in quite simple terms, shut the fuck up now before you make an even bigger fool out of yourself.

Is that clear enough for your dumb arse?
