Would it be fair to say this is the closest thing to 'Thief' in a long time?

Well, it's probably the closest - IIRC, a fair number of the Thief guys worked on this. But it is very different in style from Thief. When your first ability is teleportation....well, it changes the rules of the stealth game.

Most of the thief fans at another forum I visit seem to like it, but think it's very, very easy.

As if I didn't already have a huge backlog of purchased but unplayed games.. Now this title has hit my radar.

Same feeling here. I'm trying to be good this time around though, especially for these single player games. After seeing Sleeping Dogs go on sale and hit a low price so quickly I think I'm done with new games. I do have a gift card to burn though... does that count? 😀

Well I finished the game in 13 hours, so it is a bit on the short side. Overall enjoyable and worth the money but I don't consider it a game of the year or even that memorable. I preferred Hitman Blood Money or Chaos Theory as a stealth game 7.5/10

I would have to agree. I got it for 45 dollars and worth every penny. It's a short game, but it was made to be replayed hundred times over. Its story and atmosphere is enough to grab you, but not really immerse you in anyway. The characters aren't developed in anyway or form, and there is no "filler". It's purely a game the concentrates on just one thing: being a game.

My pile of shame? DEEP
one example. I bought ME3 when it went on a 39 dollar sale in March or arounf then.... IT IS STILL SHRINK WRAPPED.
Walked into Game Stop the other day. Regualr price is now $29.95
Hangs head in shame.......
MUST BE STRONG.

Between this and the new XCOM game. There's $100 I could buy and will sit on the shelf and depreciate...

Finished the game as High Chaos [I preferred sleeper hold/hide bodies, kill/hide bodies [before I activated "bodies turn to ash when killed" mode], or reverse engineer anything that will kill them instead of me. Took me a bit longer to finish the game as I purposely walked/stealthed the entire map of each area - plus for some reason I would quick load the game if someone saw me even though I wasn't trying to go for the low chaos path.

Only 2 endings - low chaos, high chaos - so not really interested in going back and trying to be stealthy.

Awesome game as I enjoy "stealth" type games of this genre [Thief, Hitman, Splinter Cell, etc].

Just finished myself- 17 hrs for me. I typically hate stealth games but really enjoyed this one- I'll probably go back through w/ high chaos.

I got the game yesterday. wow..so far its neat. only maybe an hour in. sad to see its only 13 hour or so game.

It is only that long if you are not being stealthy and not explorering much. I beat it in 22.5 hours playing stealthy and only killing people here and there and explorered pretty much everywhere.

damnit, i spent a long time on the level where you go to the golden cat, trying to be stealthy and non-lethal. I finished the level and it said I killed 2 people...wtf? how? when?

I killed some rats and the thugs at the distillery killed a bunch of weepers that I let loose, but I don't know how I killed anyone...

Pontifex, did you kill the Pendeltons? Or the two thugs who were assaulting the girl from the officer's club? Or any weepers personally? Normally it doesn't count kills made by others, even if your actions led to their death.

I'm really enjoying this game. The level design is original, the combat and powers are fun, it can be challenging if you don't abuse certain things, and there is a lot of variety. It was definitely worth the price.

I've read that if your actions cause a death, even if you didn't kill the person yourself, it counts.

For instance, if you knock someone out and leave them on the ground, and some rats come and kill them, it counts against your kill count. Reason being is that they wouldn't have been killed if you hadn't left them there.

The number one cause of accidental kills is KOed people falling. If a KOed person falls more then about 4 feet, they die and you're marked as having killed them.

no, i did the non-lethal for the pendletons. trying to do all non-lethal.

could have been rats getting at a knocked out person or possibly falling because I did put some people on like ledges. but they must have fallen off by themselves because they were safe when i left them.

How do you "disarm" yourself? I was at the Boyle Party last night and it was really irritating that i could not put away my sword and left hand.
