I dunno what's up then....I just ran HL2 and HL2DM again real quick to make sure they're both working, and they still seem to be just fine for me...

My working HL2 DM install dir is 43.7mb in size.

A second system that's not working has over 50mb in the same directory.

Both are fresh installs of the Update with nothing added.

I've had updates to every .gfc file today apart from opposing force and codename gordon :roll:

So short of downloading 5gb of content again at home...I'm lost.

I'm going to try the unrar files onto my laptop (which hasn't had Steam connected yet today, so no other Source files have been touched) and see what happens.

Are there any .MDMP files in the directory of the one that's not working (however they're only 43kb on my machine, so unless there are hundreds of them I don't know 😱)

HL2 directory is 200 mb's
HL:S is 61 mb's
cs: source is 33 mb's

none are working after installing DM. worked fine earlier today.

It doesn't work for me either. I can't play any Steam games right now since I only have the gcf files for Source games, which aren't working.

I guess I'll just have to kill some time with Zero Wing (it's actually quite fun) until this problem is resolved.

10 minutes ago I read a thread on another forum where a Valve employee was saying they wee working on the issue. Came back here to see if anything was figured out yet and saw the posts saying it was working now. Go and test it on the non-working Install, sure enough working fine after another small Update. 🙂

There are certainly disadvantages to Steam, but there are also Advantages. I think the quick fixes such as this one shows 1 of those advantages. Another advantage is always knowing when an Update is released and being able to get it without needing to find a working Download site on the Net.
