Hillary Clinton = Defacto President Elect

I support Bernie, but I realize that many of his fans are merely the left wing equivalent of Ron Paul supporters. This I suppose is a consequence of being young and politically involved which necessarily bad thing. In the end I'm not sure who would have made the better president. The biggest thing that stands out about Bernie is that he has a backbone which is sorely lacking among liberals and the democratic party as a whole. However there is something to be said about being too ahead of your time. Presidents are confined to the time period of their tenure and his policies won't last if we don't have a very solid majority on board with them. Plus being a political outsider would also be a burden on the effectiveness of his leadership. Politics is and always has been a dirty business and even our most revered historical leaders have done things they aren't proud of. I feel as if a good president isn't someone who would sell their soul to the devil, but should consider putting up for rent from time to time.
In the end I feel that Bernie and Trump both have changed things and probably for the better. This election year will be an historical turning point for both parties which will likely result in the formation of a new party. The last several decades of racial and bigoted undertones have finally caught up the G.O.P. and recovering their image after Trump and Cruz will be nearly impossible. By 2020 Generation Z will start voting and all Millennials and will be eligible to vote and these are groups who by and large share very little in common with the G.O.P.. Looking back on past presidential elections; Republicans have been on a relatively steady decline since 1992. Bush 41 was the last Republican to acquire more than 300 electoral votes and his son barely won the 2000 and 2004 elections.
In end I don't feel that Hillary will be a bad president but I wouldn't be surprised if the liberal side of the Democratic party leaves to form a new party as it takes in the more moderate/establishment members republican party (Koch's recent nod to Hillary is an indication of things to come).
The transition will likely mirror the transition (albeit faster) of the south switching over to the republican party which began with FDR but wasn't finished until the end of Clinton's final term.
Trump won't be able to undo the damage that he as done with minorities and their votes matter more than ever. Florida is a very important state (arguably more than Ohio due to electoral count) and has a high immigrant population and it's one that he cannot afford to lose.

Overall I feel positive about this election year despite all of the madness. Bernie may not have won but will only be a footnote in history but he has changed the forever and I think we as people will begin to demand better of our leaders in the future.

I remember when Bernie first announced he's running. His first stated goal was to move Hillary to the left which he's obviously done.

He's also opened the can of worms that was previously rarely ever discussed on the national stage that perhaps tax money would be better spent paying for repaired infrastructure/higher education/healthcare rather than for wars/wallstreet bailouts/lucrative subsidies and the like for big business.

I still think a majority of Americans are blind to the concept of corporate welfare, eating up the propaganda that it's only welfare if their tax money goes to something other than wallstreet and big business. We've been conditioned to think that free stuff for the rich courtesy of the tax payer is fine but anything else is just plain socialism. Certainly though more minds have been opened as a result of Bernie's campaign, if nothing else.

Millennials don't vote and Democrat generally only vote if it's for the presidency so I don't see much changing at all actually. On the Republican side it's a whole other story and I think it's a matter of time before the party is split.

With the exception of 2012 millennials have been on the rise since in regard to voter turnout. This year is rivaling 2008 (the last high turnout) in that regard.

As for Bush, I'll admit that I was surprised but we can thank Trump for that. He single handedly defeated last of the Reagan era neocons on what was once their old turf. But the GOP race in general is much harder to predict. It looks like Trump will win it but there is a significant force within the GOP that wants to give it to someone else. It will be hard to predict how it will pan out but I think they'll cave in to Trump in the end because he is the last hope for the party in the small chance that he wins, but he'll be the final nail in the coffin when he loses.

As a % of total millennials? I doubt it. Millennials are too lazy, hence why they voted for a socialist.

Small chance? LOL

Anyone but Hillary and Bernie for me. Regardless of who wins it will be a continuation of the polarization of American politics, gone are the days of the candidates average voters can begrudgingly get behind even if it wasn't their choice.

I don't know, the trend doesn't look like its going up to me.

They'll be out voting for Hillary in November. She'll probably nominate Al Franken as her VP pick. I'm looking forward to Bill O'Reilly's reaction when that happens.

So... Cruz/Fiorina if it comes to it, right?

Would that mean you support their positions or that you're just a partisan tool?

He'd be a good pick. Every right wing talking head in existence would be losing their shit, particularly the fattest one with the fattest head, El Rushbo himself.

I'm referring to general elections. Voter turnout in all groups dip during mid terms. From 1996 to 2008 young voters have been on the rise and 2016 will likely restart that trend.

Except that mid term elections are just as important as presidential elections.

Before Bernie Sanders, it was Ron Paul. Before Ron Paul, it was Dennis Kucinich. Before Dennis Kucinich, it was Howard Dean. Before Howard Dean, it was Ralph Nader. And so on and so forth back to Eugene McCarthy in 1968.

For nearly fifty years, middle-class white college ideologues have latched onto this candidate or that, firmly believing that their political awakening has miraculously coincided with discoveries of Great Truths that escape the Brainwashed Morons that make up the electorate (and which just happen to align perfectly with their own particular socioeconomic interests), and that this Great Man is going to be the one to take the country to the promised land. And it’s always the same story.

Of course he is going to win. I like him, and I usually get the things I want. And he’s popular. I mean, everyone I know likes him, and I know all sorts of people at the university I chose because its student body matches my hometown’s income level, ethnicity, region, and politics. And everyone on the websites I visit likes him, and there are millions of people on the websites. (I visit these websites because their user base and content creators mostly match my own identity.) I literally don’t know anyone who supports his opponent. (I do not consider the previous statement to be indicative of my own limited viewpoint, but rather consider it damning to his opponent.)

And look, I voted for him on a bunch of online polls, and then deleted my cookies and switched IP addresses and voted for him again, and again, and again. And he’s totally dominating those polls. See. I knew he was winning. I’ll post about how he’s winning on some websites. And hey, everyone else on these websites is doing the same thing. I bet he’s winning. Of course he’s winning. How could anyone not support my candidate? His opponent is basically the same as a member of the other party! Actually their voting record is >90% identical to my candidate’s. But I don’t really know that much about either candidate. I didn’t really know who either were twelve months ago. But I’m super excited now!

The media isn’t reporting favorably on my candidate. They project he will lose. But they’re corrupt. They’re bought-and-paid-for. I don’t even read them any more. Nobody does. Time to show the world that their lies won’t work. Time for the primaries.

We lost. Fuck. I literally cannot comprehend how this might have happened. The media said this would happen. The media are a bunch of corrupt liars. I guess the system is just as corrupt as the media is. This is not a good story. This is not a good democracy. Fuck this entire fucking corrupt system. I participated but I didn’t get anything what the fuck fuck this noise fucking corrupt bastards and the goddamned wise and beautiful woman for brains sheep that vote for them the entire system is broken the parties are identical the democracy is a sham i’m never fucking voting again bunch of bought and paid for hypocrites fuck this fuck you fuck everything see now there are problems in the world YOU FUCKING DESERVE THE PROBLEMS YOU BASTARDS the people need to rise up BECAUSE THE SYSTEM IS BROKEN why even bother I AM NEVER VOTING AGAIN!

For some, the bitterness has only deepened over the years, expressing itself as an erupting mid life crisis involving Donald Trump...

😵 Why are they lazy? All the jobs have been exported. They are doing more to self actualize of any generation.

Its not their fault the babyboomers sold their futures for selfish reasons.

"Those are jobs Americans won't do" remember? We just keep repeating that lie to pass shit legislations so that all entry level/stepping stone jobs are outsourced, automated away, or being doing by illegals or H1B visa holders.

We had two Bush presidents and we will have two Clinton presidents. Bush Sr. was a one termer while his son got two terms. BC got two terms and my guess is Hillary will get just one. And, after her there will never be another Bush or Clinton presidency.

If anything the productivity expectations for jobs today are a country wide mile higher than anything the baby boomers were ever expected to produce, not to mention boomers never had to deal with a cynical profit crunching scheduling computers constantly changing and utterly dictating their lives.

I miss the factory jobs we once had. They weren't always the prettiest, but they paid very well relative to the education requirement. Too bad our regulations against dumping toxic waste into the drinking supply and the like isn't competitive enough for the capitalists who would can just as easily export those positions to regions that have no such protections.

Not by much. She is still raising money from Wall Street, has said she will bust encryption on everything once shes President, etc...

I'm probable going to vote the highest rated 3rd party candidate. I agree she just about has this election given to her on a silver platter, but I can't vote for her.

He packaged it wrong and made it look like he is giving away free stuff when he should have sold it as American tax payer money for middle class Americans and their country first.
