I am somewhat amused at "conservatives" playing the race card, saying that Herman Cain could be the first authentically black president, or Herman Cain himself saying that the Democrats "are scared a real black man may run against Barack Obama"...

See, they're not racist; the Republicans' problem is that President Obama isn't black enough!

From Article VI of the Constitution of the United States:
"...no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."

More spidey fail.

Yep. I'm not going to give you a test, just not going to hire you because you're a muslim terrorist. Read it, The Constitution that is.

As poor spidey doubles down on fail...

edit: FWIW, I read the full Constitution, not the Tea Party Abridged Edition.

Oh, man, first I heard the Cain quote. It is extremeley offensive.

"They are doubly scared that a real black man might run against Barack Obama."

I've liked Herman Cain since he went into the race. Listened to his ideas, words, arguments and felt like he was somebody I could REALLY support. Oh, then I guess after not seeing him I found out he was a black man. Did that change my support? Hell no. Seriously liberals, you need to drop the racism angle, it isn't sticking.

It was all the talk in the office today and me and my co-workers are sending money his way to the tune of thousands of dollars. Does he have a shot? I don't know, but I WILL do my part to make sure a constitutional conservative gets the nomination.

Hahah, the same tea party fuckwits who hold signs showing photoshopped pictures Obama in tribal clothing are going to line up to vote for a blackguy.

Hey, anyone remember the GOP hinting about McCain's illegitimate black lovechild during the 2000 elections? That was good stuff.

I'm amazed people are making so much out of this meaningless vote. It was a pure beauty contest (ie, results carry absolutely no weight), was closed to all but GOP activists and Cain was the only one who actively courted that electorate-for over a week.

The most that this poll shows is that there is very little to differentiate among the certified loons and wackjobs currently running fot the GOP nomination (Huntsman and possbily Romney excepted).

Personally I'd be absolutely thrilled if the GOP nominated Cain. Go spidey go!

It is amusing to watch the left try to make Herman Cain's statement racist and offensive in the midst of insisting that any opposition to Obama's every desire is based on racism.

That's the left's deck, fifty-two race cards and a couple of jokers - in case you need to play the race card.

The righties would be up in arms in feigned outrage if a Democrat said that a Republican wasn't black enough. Hell, they were up in arms over a few extra black people voting for Obama because he's half black... Which essentially means John McCain wasn't black enough for them. Or do you not remember all the posts about "racist" black people here?

Democrats always say that black Republicans aren't black enough or "really" black. Those are the polite terms; race traitor, Uncle Tom, and House Ni##er regularly get thrown out too. Suffice it to say that a black Republican is able to stand up for himself and his principles or he wouldn't be a black Republican; he'd bow to peer pressure and do as he is told.

Personally I have no problem with blacks voting for Obama just because he is black. For one thing, it was the only reason I saw for anyone to vote for him. For another, when you represent 12% of the population and 0% of our Presidents, it's perfectly natural to get excited at having a real chance to elect one of your own, if only to demonstrate that your group is just as good as any other. When we have a major party Hispanic Presidential candidate, I fully expect Hispanics to vote for him or her in record numbers. That isn't racism (the belief that one race is inherently superior or inferior to others), it's racial identification. It expresses itself more in non-voters inspired to vote than in percentages, and probably doesn't last beyond the first real success.

Cain was very well spoken in one of the recent debates. Every time he said something, he actually sounded like he knew what he was talking about and not just reading a teleprompter.

Can you deny there is something amusing in a Republican's implication that the problem is that President Obama is just not black enough? Doubly so for El Flushbo, given his history of questionable statements.

You should note that in any post where I question racial/religious/birther slurs against the president, my stance is neither outrage nor offense, but bemusement that such ineffectual tactics are employed when much stronger criticisms of a weak president are so readily available.

Cain supported Romney in 08. That's all I need to know.
Will not be voting for more of the same.

You really should listen to Cain some more and how he lays it out on just how bad Obama is and how he simply "doesn't get it". We NEED that kind of attitude in the republican nominee, somebody who will flat out and viciously attack this president and chew the marxist out in debates. Herman Cain is just such a candidate. Stop being nice, stop trying to "be civil", the future of our country is at stake and this is a very serious time in our history.

Yup, that's the only thing this country needs. Politicians who HATE those of the other political party. Doesn't really matter what an elected official is for any more. It's all about what they're against. You sure, are a psychopath.

I would not deny that it's amusing to hear a black Republican say or intimate that Obama is not black enough or not "authentic".

Is there a politician running who doesn't think the other side is absolutely the reincarnation of original sin? If so, it must be one like Alvin Greene who just doesn't think, period.
