They are public now?
I vaguely remember some "Newegg Support" guy on this forum posted about 5 years ago claiming that Newegg would be going public soon.
Never heard a peep or seen any stock ticker symbol about it since then.

The constant need to squeeze more profit out of everything seems to kill businesses all the time. I know Newegg doesn't make this kind of jack but really, when is making $5b a year not enough? That's right, when people think your company sucks and is stagnant because it only makes $5b a year every year. That's not good enough, you need to sell auto parts now so you can then make $5.1b a year.

Their search system blows everyone else away still. Amazon's has one of the worst search engines for their store. It has been like a year I bought from Newegg though, but I always check their prices when I go to buy something, last purchase I made I had to buy a few new APC UPS's and APC surge protectors as all the ones in my house blew out due to a problem with the ground and the power, saved all my equipment and insurance replaced all the stuff ups/surges :D

Newegg's search is the only thing that keeps me there. If Amazon offered an equivalent search system (and a way to filter out marketplace sellers) then I'd be done with Newegg.

They have a health and beauty section now! They sell skin care... they sell sonic toothbrushes now! Pretty colorful sonic toothbrushes too!

There is nothing wrong with NewEgg selling other products or having a market place. I think their objective is that knowing we buy daily use stuff else where - why not have it on NewEgg too to keep us on their website longer or purchase from them and attract new customers to expand their customer data base...

I used to spend thousands at Newegg every year, but I'm lucky to spend a couple hundred per year there now. I preordered NBA 2K13 from them, but only because they had $12 off.

I use their search to find the products and part numbers I want, then I usually order from Amazon.

yea same here

I think I bought a cell phone charger from them before I found out Monoprice has them.

Last video card I bought lil rudeguy was from Amazon but I did use Newegg's search to find a good one.

I still use them just not nearly as much. I feel customer service has taken a nose dive at Newegg. They had me pay for return shipping on a product I returned last time. That's fine. You saved $14 but I've bought everything since then at Amazon. Good move Newegg.

About a year ago they screwed me on a return. I returned the unopened item and never got a refund. Their customer service folks were absolutely no help. I would have to be completely desperate before I ever order from them again.

oh interesting, google finance says they withdrew their filing in 2011, i never saw that before

maybe they just used it as an excuse to crap up their UI and start selling silverware

No... BBY just sucks. They just... flat out suck.

They do, but Newegg and Best Buy are both being used as showrooms for Amazon by many people, I'd wager. True, Newegg is online but as I mentioned earlier, when I need new components, I'll go to Newegg to use their powerful search feature and read reviews there. I'll then go plug the part number in over at Amazon and generally buy the components there.

They want to be Amazon.

yeh what the hell. Now when you order from newegg... it may not be from newegg and no telling when or where the item gets shipped from.

Newegg has a distribution site near me and I guess I got spoiled with the overnight free shipping.
